Hi Everyone:I recently migrated from plusnet on the 29th/1, the worst isp ever and I've had some bad ones, to pipex mainly on the recomendation of a friend and they claimed to not throttle downloads with the top package £25 p/m without pipex phone. I'm beginning to doubt this claim, as I'm getting at times less than 0.5 mgbyte download and worse upload and p2p is ££$%^ terrible surely my speeds should have settled down by now. Is anyone having similar problems or have some advice? Cheers. |

I've posted exact same thing in a lot of threads recently. Pipex are starting to realise people would like the very best service, but most won't pay for it. Therefore, they're lowering their prices, and at the same time degrading their service. Pipex were and probably still are the best ISP out there, but before long they'll be providing below average service, just like the rest.

I had the same as you guys since joining Max in July. However, my speed over the past week is ballistic. I'm regularly seeing 826 KB/Sec, whereas before I was lucky to get better than dial up in the evenings and most weekends.
Dunno whats happened but it's taken long enough to do it....

Thanks to Cornishmans post, I have some hope but I was the phone with pipex this afternoon and they said that I should perform some of the tests which I had already done and that they would flag a fault on my line.
I performed all of those test again disconnecting all of my hardware, replacing the microfilters and then ran a speed test with BT as suggested and the result was I was supposidly getting 2mb throughput, what a laugh. I know some of you guys are running a competition for the worse connection speed this is a link to the speed test I've just run: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedt...636087770.html I bet that one of the worse to be posted. I think its time that PIPEX got it own forum on this site, come back Plusnet all is forgiven. |

I've just noticed something there about your speed test results, devil81; your upload speed is greater than your download speed.
This stinks to me as either a line fault or modem hardware failure. Either way, this doesn't look like to be Pipex's fault, and would've probably occured if you were still on PlusNet. On your modem / modem router, is there a way you can look at your Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Line Attenuation? This is the most likely cause of your low speeds. For more information and typical readings on this, see http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/lowSNR.htm.
