Are you sure it's Tiscali and not that your line has suddenly deteriorated? Have you tried dialling in with another ISP just to see? Might be worth it before leaving.

I used to be 56000 bps, then I noticed a slow deteriotion over a period of time down to 42000.

Thne those wonderfull BT people came and chopped down the telegraph pole outside the house and replaced it with a new shiney one and refitted the wires, not only to the house, but upto the master socket ( I went back to BT ), and now I'm back to a constant 56000 every time..

Bloody slow once I've connected ( but thats Tiswolly )

Another thing to check, if your speed has suddenly dropped, BT may have dropped the line gain or multiplexed your line with another ( They only have to provide FAX transmission speeds )

If you are a BT customer I would moan at them. If you've gone somewhere else, then tough luck, they are not interested if your voice connection works - thats all they have to provide to other TSP's such as servista and British gas.

Just the same way as you leave anything else.....you write and tell them and cancel your payment method.

It says in the terms and conditions:

9.3 Either party may terminate this Agreement on giving 30 days written notice to the other at anytime and for any reason. You must pay the Fees up to an (sic) including the date of termination for all Internet Access Services you receive from us.

We'd require some info from you to process your subscription cancellation request. Please provide us with details on the following through the ‘Contact Us’ link on our Home page:

1. Your Tiscali email ID
2. Your Post Code
3. Your mother's Maiden name / IVR PIN number
4. Your date of birth
5. Your Telephone number registered for Tiscali package.

Hope this might be of help to some.

Pisces

I've been using Screaming.net / Tiscali since the bitter start.

Having now decided to end my account with them, I looked on their web site for a contact phone number. The only ones shown were a joining number & a 50p a minute tech. help line.

I rang the joining number and asked who to contact to end my account. The response was you have to ring the tech help number & that this was the only way it could be done.

Frankly, that just about sums up the Customer Service (if you can call it that) at Tiscali, when they expect you to pay 50p a minute to tell them you don't want their lousy service.

Anyway, thanks Pisces, for your helpful advice I'll try using it.

Ivor

Success!!!!!!!!

Received an e-mail from Tiscali confirming my request to terminate my contract with them.

Thanks for the warning.

One of the things I dislike about Tiscali is their billing system, you never seem to know exactly what your paying for or when.

The safest way to terminate a contract with Tiscali (or any other ISP) and that is in writing by recorded delivery. The address is in the terms and conditions. You then have proof of receipt and proof of date etc. I did this after getting fed up with Tiscali.

Their address is:

Tiscali UK Ltd
Chelford House
Rudhead Way
Gadbrook Park
Northwich
Cheshire CW9 7LN (unless they've changed it!!)

Cool How do you quit WorldOnline/Tiscali ?

As an ex Localtel/World Online customer, with great difficulty!
I finished my account with them on January 2001 over 1 year ago and don't owe them anything and guess what? They set the `dogs' on me!.See my postings relating to debt collection and harassment etc. Good Luck.

Smile How do you contact them via e.mail?

Hi amiable, or anyone whom may be able to help. I have tried recently to contact them via e.mail but without success. Do you have an e.mail address that has been replied to? Not one with a link as I do not have an e.mail linked to Tiscali as I am an ex customer. Thanks.

I've not personally had the problems with our ISP(/phone) friends that many have had, and would go as far as saying I've had a good couple of years out of them. Admittedly they don't know how to treat customers, or bill them properly, but anyway, ADSL calls and I'm now planning to go to Pipex.

I've got my 30 day contract termination notice all typed out as per their T&C's, but where do I send it?

I've found:-

Tiscali Customer Service
PO Box 264,
Hull
HU2 8YB

which is the favourite, but also:-

Chelford House, Rudheath Way, Gadbrook Park, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 7LN, England

Any ideas/experiences?

Cheers in advance

I've just applied for an ADSL package with Pipex - but thought I'd try the telephone number suggested by Ian - (0870 744 9966 for Billing Dept.) to see how to terminate my Tiscali Anytime account.

I got through to them first time and whilst they were willing to close my account there and then, I explained I was waiting for BT to approve my line's suitablity for DSL before I finally gave notice. The friendly operator said "Fine, when you're ready, give us another call with your details and we'll close your account." It remains to be seen whether this method actually works - but it seems preferable to the 50p/minute Technical Support route they try to get people to use.

So if my line is suitable for DSL, I'll be giving them a call later this week in the hope of leaving Tiscali - (not counting the 6-9 months for them eventually to settle my outstanding payments to them.)

Pete

Exclamation Tiscali strike back

I thought I'd heard the last from Tiscali back in January when they took their last payment from my bank account by direct debit.

How wrong can you be!!!

On this month's statement (April) they've started to take money from my account again. I've spoken to my bank, they can deal with Tiscali as I've had enough of them.

So be warned and check your bank statements !!!!!!!!

This one's for Tiscali

I and others would be interested to know what method they used to debit your a/c, was it a direct debit or did they use your card number.

It was a direct debit, which I thought I'd stopped.

By the way, have just got ADSL with Pipex, great service and no problems so far.

So they ARE still using DD's, thanks for that Ivor. The 'Accounts' page has no reference to DD's at all, only Card details, and I've been on at them because when I signed up they wanted my DD details - now they seem to have 'lost' them and want my card details. As you are obviously aware, with a DD, if it goes 'wrong' you can get it back thro' your bank. With a card things are not so clear cut.
I been with Screaming/WOL/Tiscali since day two and transferred to ADSL (I won't say when!) and I want to pay them (if I really must) by DD and nothing else.

It was interesting to note that my last official Direct debit, in January, was collected by "World Online". However the latest DD was collected by Tiscali.

I phoned to cancel Tiscali Feb 4th this year. They tried in the last week to take £14.99 from my (long since cancelled DD) twice.
I suspect its not the last I hear, but I`ve moved house since, so should be fun
