HDTV help needed!
HDTV help needed!
Help. My mind is a bit bogged down with all this HDTV nonsense. I want to buy one in January when the sales start to kick in and I’ve been having a look at a few TV’s through Google. The trouble is lots of the suppliers seem to think that putting ‘HDTV’ in the title is all the reader needs to know and it’s very frustrating. I’ve done a bit of looking around and I want a 1080i HDTV, not a 720, not hard is it? (You would think) Anyone know a good place to buy one? Somewhere that will actually sell me the TV I want?  Puggs

It's a minefield out there, as most new technology is
 What's your budget? What size screen do you require? What use is it for? Console, TV, combination of both? The philips 9830 series is getting good reviews.

Probably about the 2k mark, but if i see something i really like i might be tempted to spend a bit more.
The bigger the better tbh, but so long as its at least 32"+ i should be okay. At the moment, i want to use it for console (Xbox 360 when i can get one, lol) and for DVD's. I hear sky might do HDTV next year, but i'm not too fussed about that for now.

I would recommend you get yourself along to an independent audio visual shop and ask their advice. Also pop down to your newsagent and pick up a couple of mags and have a read.
Research, Research, and Research My Xbox 360 is fab on my 43" Pioneer Plasma. Although i'm now thinking of getting an 26 or 32 inch LCD for gaming and I have been swayed towards the Philips series I mentioned above. Unfortunately the plasmas tend to suffer from screen burn on static on screen images.
