Default Loads of progs at startup

Over the past couple of years i have accumlated a vast amount of crap on my Hdd. Im trying to clear out exactly what i dont want however.
There are some progs that i still use from time to time i.e. Nokia suite but i dont want them to load when i re-boot.
If i knock them out at startup in Windows defender or MSCONFIG will i loose them all together or can i simpily start them again when required.
My boot times are really long and there are far too many icons at the bottom right of my screen.

Cheers in advance
