Question How easy is it to migrate from Tesco?

Evening all, I just want to start off by saying what a great forum. I have been reading stuff on here for just over half an hour now.

I currently have a Tesco Finest account with 5 months left on my contract. I want to leave Tesco as I believe that the service is a rip off for what I am getting. For the same price I am paying for 2MB/s, I can get ADSL2+ service from "Be". I live practically on top of my exchange so ADSL2+ would work ok for me.

After reading another thread on here, I can safely assume Tesco are not going to upgrade speeds despite their website stating "Free upgrades when they become available." I emailed them today and got told that because they use BT Datastream they are limited to 2MB/s anyway.

So what I need to know is..... will it be easy for me to migrate from Tesco to say... Be, or UKOnline etc? Also I got told by one Tesco person that it's £100 to cancel my contract, and another told me £70.00. Seems they don't know themselves!!!!

Many thanks for your time.

Default Re: How easy is it to migrate from Tesco?

I was about 2 or 3 months into a new contract with tesco's finest broadband and i had ok speeds and stable connection but was having severe difficulty loading webpages at a reasonable speed. This had been on going from my 1mb contract and then they upgraded me to the 2mb contract.
After a while I just had enough and told them I was not recieving the service i am paying for and I shouldnt have to pay for a cancellation as it had cost me so much in wasted time and phone calls to rectify the problem which still hadnt been resolved. So after that, that is when i got my MAC code and tried to migrate to another service. In the end I had to cancel my contract for tesco and wait for the line to clear before setting up an account with the new ISP. This was due to the fact tesco was datastream and in ISP was IPstream.
