News! TalkTalk cuts Prices

TalkTalk, the communications company from The Carphone Warehouse, is cutting the price of landline and broadband with international calls to just £5.89 per month.

Unlimited evening and weekend calls to the UK and calls to 36 destinations abroad, all day, every day, are all included in the £5.89 Talk2 international plan. With the required £10.50 line rental the total package comes in at just £16.39 a month – the best on the market.

Talk2 International is perfect for people who don’t use their phone much during the day but want a landline to make calls when they’re at home in the evenings, at weekends and, of course, to make the most of broadband – which is completely free with TalkTalk.

Since its launch in February 2003, TalkTalk has become consumers’ number one alternative to BT. TalkTalk shook up the market in April 2006 with the announcement that its customers could enjoy broadband for free and now it is moving the market again with even better value for customers.

“Many customers tell us they don’t use their home phone during the day so we’ve come up with something for people who make landline calls when they get home from work and at the weekends,” says David Thatcher, managing director of TalkTalk. “We’re committed to providing the best value around; we pioneered free broadband and on landline our position remains clear - if you want to pay less join TalkTalk.” “Many customers tell us they don’t use their home phone during the day so we’ve come up with something for people who make landline calls when they get home from work and at the weekends,” says David Thatcher, managing director of TalkTalk. “We’re committed to providing the best value around; we pioneered free broadband and on landline our position remains clear - if you want to pay less join TalkTalk.”

Talk2 International package includes:

* An unlimited number of evening & weekend calls to local and national landline numbers in the UK and all day, everyday landline calls to 36 international destinations
* Talk2 International £5.89 + £10.50 line rental (total package £16.39)
* 18 month minimum term applies
* £29.99 connection charge (on voice element of package)

sounds great but so did free broadband - you only have to read past posts in this forum and talk to some people who switched to them to hear how bad the service was then and subsequently.

it must be said that the chatter about talktalk has decreased, overtaken by orange as i understand (that must have taken some doing), or maybe they're improving.

i would personally think very carefully before changing my broadband or anything else to talktalk.

It's not the best price if you are already a Sky subscriber.

For £5 a month (plus £11 to BT for line rental) you get free anytime calls plus free overseas calls to many countries.

That's a massive 39p cheaper!!!

I used to be with Pipex and too be honest, I'm getting a better connection speed from TalkTalk now than I ever did, but TalkTalk still needs to improve their servers, if they acquire Pipex then hopefully they can turn things around.

TalkTalk is cheap and very very nasty, they refuse to answer any emails i have sent and when phoning them they deny even getting any emails, and to add to the insult the idiots in the call center can hardly speak english so complaining gets a blank response.
The advertising is a scam sure you'll get speeds of up to 8 meg however forget about P2P you will not get it after a couple of weeks it slows and stops never to return. Ask TalkTalk and the idiots at the other end of the phone know nothing or refuse to inform you.
God help me 4 months in to a 18 month contract its going to be a bumpy road.
THE BEST ADVICE FOR ANYONE EVER READING THIS IS FIND ANOTHER ISP STAY CLEAR OF TALK TALK AND ITS LIES.....IF NOT WELL I TRIED TO SAVE YOU THE HEADACHE HUNDREDS OF US HAVE GONE THOUGH..

I am in agreement with Andy.

Not total agreement however, I think Talktalk provides a good service to most of its customers.

The point to make is that if you do have an error with your line, you will SERIOUSLY regret ever having bought their service. Talktalk has the worst customer service of any company in my experience or knowledge, consistently coming last in customer satisfaction surveys.

I have been a customer for 6 months and had 3 months of faultless service. However, when the service did start going wrong, I had nothing but repetitive procedures, lies, deceptions, empty promises and endless hours on hold. After 3 months my situation has not been resolved and I am about to cancel my contract which, in itself can be an ordeal. (For a full description of the kind of problems myself and others in our situation has suffered, see the talktalk nightmares thread by luciana.... well, any of the threads really, they are mostly the same!)

DO NOT BUY SERVICES FROM THIS COMPANY AS YOU WILL SERIOUSLY REGRET IT!

keef737 suring is generaly defined as being able to view webpages which you are able to do on talktalk.

As explained in a previous post there just is not the demand for these services to warrant the upkeep needed.

According to you = yet there are penty of UK companies providing
news group access for £X per month strange how they havent gone
out of business because of lack of damand

heres one www.newsdemon.com for only £3.97 per month
a search on google reveals plenty
perhaps someone who works for a company has a money saving idea

and internet is defined by 1) E mails : (2) web browsing = surfing : (3)and according to the whole world, newsgroups
