We have a problem in Germany: "It's a minister in a wheelchair behaving like a Nazi tank in a blitzkrieg against democracy", a man from the street said to me tonight.
What has happened? (or... is happening...) Today the German parliament said yes to new data retention laws. That's very bad, some people say. But what did our wheelchair minister say? Commenting announced constitutional complaints (german link) the minister said "We had the 'greatest commander of all times'(GröFaZ) [GröFaZ is an ironic German acronym for Greatest Commander of all Times - meaning Adolf Hitler] and now we have the greatest constitutional complaint of all times" Comparing legal democratic steps against a controversial law with Adolf Hitler is the ugliest thing I have ever heard from a German politician. It has nothing to do with political style. In Germany we say "Wer Wind sät, wird Sturm ernten" (Who is seeding wind will be reaping storm). What ever could be added... ...is blowing in the wind... In Germany newspapers decided to publish a completely blackened front page to protest against the ongoing mutilation of democratic basics last week - which was an exceptional way of protest... ![]() ...and many websites in Germany are blackened, quoting one of the German Grundrechte (basic rights, the "heart" of our constitution) about the secrecy of (tele)communication. It was murdered today, driven to death by a wheelchair. ![]() (The secrecy of telecommunciation must not be violated, ..., SPD, CDU and CSU decided: it died on 8/11/07) Keep an eye on us, friends. http://www.vorratsdatenspeicherung.d...83/87/lang,en/ http://www.daten-speicherung.de/inde...-constitution/ who wants to join the protest? http://www.vorratsdatenspeicherung.d...w/158/79/#code http://www.vorratsdatenspeicherung.d...158/1/lang,en/ We call on every webmaster to cover their pages from the 8th November to grieve for the secrecy of communication.
