hi
this is driving my mads. I have a new laptop and Vista on it (yeah... :/). Now, I turned off the automatic updates completely (do not check - do not ask - do nothing). Sometimes I need to restart my laptop and usually I need it to be done quickly. Then guess what - a message about "Updates 1 of 3 being installed" pops up and I need to wait 5 or 10 minutes until it finishes ![]() Is there any way of turning it off COMPLETELY so I'm not bothered by this "feature" anymore? |

If you've disabled it in control panel, you can also disable it in services.
run services.msc (Windows Key + R to bring up the run box). Disable the following two services : Background Intelligent Transfer Service Windows Update |

hi In the Windows Update window, click on the Change Settings Choose Never check for updates, you may have to do this after each re-boot,or second method is you can simply stop and disable the "windows update" service.in services, but 1st method is the easiest |
