Default Puff the Magic Dragon

The bit at the end, where the little boy grows up and the dragon has no one to play with.

Enough to make a grown man cry.

Any others?

are not allowed to thread yourself whilst in the Dungeon
That's the only thing that gets me through the sentence

But to the matter at hand.....

Unanswered threads.......me no like either They remind me of Shooting Stars when Vic Reeves used to crack a joke and no one laughed and all you could hear was the wind howling in the trees...

But anyway I digress.......

I'm making a Qualification not a diversion OK

P the M D reminds me of The Ed "Stu Pot" Stewart Radio show when I was a kid...

Can't say it ever reduced me to tears though.....I think the only song I ever cried at was when they played "Imagine" by John Lennon on Radio One after he died in 1980.

Sil

edit, brain is addled, for some reason I was thinking abt the films thread, an misread the first post

"Puff the Magic Dragon" is a song, words by Lenny Lipton, music by Pete Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, who sang it.

See <www.amandashome.com/puff.html> for the full lyrics.

Also go to <www.geocities.com/quikkfastt/> for more gen.

Yeah, it's the song I remember, wasn't there some cartoon that had the song in it, the 'cartoon' might've been more of a stop frame animation with bits of card

Really is too long ago, but I remeber seeing and hearing it on tv during kidz hour many years ago

Sorry, Sil, can't remember if they had a TV show.

ahh, loved the Puff cartoons,, there were three,, Puff the Magic Dragon (1977), based on the song, Puff and the Incredible Mr. Nobody (1982) , then Puff and the Land of the Living Lies (1979) they all came out in the States as TV movies. They are around on video still i would think,,

pics from the toon http://www.toonarific.com/p/puffthem...agon-pics.html

"PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON"
by Yarrow/ Lipton

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

Little Jackie Paper

Loved that rascal Puff,

And brought him strings and sealing wax

And other fancy stuff. Oh!

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

Together they would travel

On a boat with billowed sail

Jackie kept a lookout perched

On Puff's gigantic tail

Noble kings and princes

Would bow whene'er they came,

Pirate ships would lower their flag

When Puff roared out his name. Oh!

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

A dragon lives forever

But not so little boys

Painted wings and giant rings

Make way for other toys.

One grey night it happened,

Jackie Paper came no more

And Puff that mighty dragon,

He ceased his fealess roar.

His head was bent in sorrow,

Green scales fell like rain,

Puff no longer went to play

Along the cherry lane.

Without his life-long friend,

Puff could not be brave,

So Puff that mighty dragon

Sadly slipped into his cave. Oh!

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

Puff, the magic dragon

Lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honah Lee

Thanks for the lyrics Tebs, I didn't think about how long ago it was released. "When I was a boy we didn't have fancy computers, we made us own entertainment, wi a penny whistle an a stick o' chewing gum"

I find I can now read the lyrics with just a slight manly sob.

I like the look of The Last Unicorn.

This thread does take you back, I remember how we used to envy the posh kids who could afford a penny whistle, we had to make our own by sliding the bark off a birch twig.

Mind you, we were better off than some, we only had to share a stick of chewing gum between four of us.

Dantony, you had a birch twig each

You were lucky

What was that TV sketch where they each tried to outdo each other about how hard it was when they were kids. It end up with one who lived in a box on the side of the road, the other asks:

"Cardboard Box ?"

"Aye"

"You were lucky"

May have been Monty Python ?

Steed

[Edit: I posted before I looked at P2. Like lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, FB ?]

[Another edit: WinMX had P the MD , now for Nellie the Elephant. ]
