In a statement, Pierre Danon, CEO of BT Retail, said: "The alliance is the next step to realising a Broadband Britain, building on the one million ADSL customer mark and delivering services and content which will appeal to a mass market." AOL and Yahoo! - I think one of them is a sitting duck for takeover by the other one. I would have said it was Yahoo!, were it not for Time Warner's recent troubles. So I don't know which way round it is - but I don't think it makes any difference anyway. The biggest media conglomerates are already too powerful in my opinion. I think that separation of content and access is vital if we're to stop them getting even more powerful.

On second thoughts - I think it's good that someone's going to try to compete with AOL on what had been their own turf.

Quite honestly I'd love to see the back of AOL, the number of messed up system I've had in recently due to theirm quite honestly shoddy software is amazing.
