Default Dialler attack on broadband

We generally reckon we are safe from dialler attack whilst using broadband but Doggy Doo reports

I have blueyonder broadband but my modem was left plugged in and it looks like my daughter downloaded a dialer some how which then dialed a 09065170090 server from 9pm Sat night to 2pm Sunday before it was discovered.

Telewest informed me of this 7pm on Mon night and says iam still liable to the bill, a nice sum of 1443.00
And I am at this moment still trying to get through to ICSTIS to see if they can help.
The original post was on Check your dial up accounts

....ah maybe the dialler was downloaded by broadband but an ISP modem used to make the calls

yes - you're only safe from dialers on bb if you disconnect the dialup modem! :)
