A Time2Touch Android 7" tablet...... still finding my way round it what it can do. Deciding whether or not to root it... would that benefit me any?? Love it though, great for taking with me on hols so I can still keep in touch with everyone & cheaper than an iPad. Got it on a coupon deal, so was even cheaper... result!!

Nothing!!! I mean, come on.

I'm far too poor. I have fish to feed, I have a parrot with a big stomach, I have a 4x4 with a big petrol tank, I have a window cleaners family to feed, I'm sure the parrot smokes my cigarettes, my gin bottle leaks like a sieve, my heating is so hot I have to put fans on to cool me and now I find that the bread I bought just two weeks ago has turned blue.

Well all I can say is it serves you right for having a 4 x 4 !! No wonder you can't afford anything else!!

Not bought a lot, just a new lappy... but sold a house... unfortunately not for what it was worth, economic climate being what it is had to sell it for a lot less just to get rid.

At least I can retire soon now though.

No more living to work for me soon... with a bit of luck I'll get some me time before I pop my clogs... can't wait!!

Jenonnet, may I be the fist to welcome you to the liberated. I have now been retired for 2 years .... and I love it.
I used to get up at 4:15 am. look out of the window at the dark, the snow, rain, frost, well you get the gist. I still wake up early.ish, and I still look out on all of that stuff, but then I go downstairs, make a cuppa, pick up my paper and toddle off back to bed.

Retirement is great, but only for some. I found it easy because I said to myself, 'I've worked for the last 50 years, I've earned the right to do just what I want'. Sadly others see it differently. The hardest lesson in life to learn is how to enjoy leisure. I hope that you will take it in full measure and that life will be kind to you.

People keep saying I'll be bored if I retire as I'm a 'do something' kind of person, not a sitting doing nothing kind but I've got a list as long as your arm of the things I'm going to to!! No way am I going to be bored, that word doesn't exist in my vocabulary!!

On top of that we are in the process of moving house, so the bungalow we are moving into needs a lot doing to it & the garden is a jungle... plenty to keep me busy I think!!

I've thought about the pay gem... if I need any more I'll get a little part-time job somewhere where there's no stress & I can just go, earn my pennies & leave it behind at the end of the working day!! Job done!!

Jenonnet, I like you intend to, keep myself busy, but .... I also enjoy my leisure. I still tend to wake up early so I go downstairs, make a cuppa, pick up my paper from the door and go back to bed to read it.
Be active of course, but remember, you have earned your leisure time, use it.
Money? Well we never had enough when we were working so why should it be any different now. Work with it. You know exactly what you will be getting and you know that it will always be there, rain or shine. You've done your bit, now it's up to the others.

Smile Re: Latest Purchases Thread

My sentiments exactly greatlover, we were just talking about this over dinner tonight with two friends & one asked what I was going to do when I retired. I replied that I had lots of things that I intended to do, then they made some comment about me being a lady of leisure, to which I replied that if that's what I wanted to be, that's exactly what I would be because I had earned the right!!

Going back to bed with a cuppa to read the paper sounds good to me... maybe I'll do that for a while but I don't want to get into too many 'samey' habits, would like my days to be ad hoc, not the same every day, then I won't get stale!! Thanks for the advice all the same, some good stuff in there.

Thumbs up Re: Latest Purchases Thread

Windows 8 Upgrade.
It took Microsoft nearly three hours (online chat followed by them telephoning me) to get it working!
Not bad either for 24.99 (download).
