Finally, I've bought a new appropiate router so I hope that one will work properly.

Thank you all for your help.

Unhappy Re: Virgin Broadband & Netgear DG834G Wireless Router

Hi Jacktar- Hope you dont mind me adding to this conversation on the DG834G!!

I too have cable input into my modem and have tried hooking up my old DG834G which I had from before until I changed. The 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 codes you've mentioned are not working for me either, when I first had the DG834G the settings screen would display fine but now all I get is 'Page cannot be displayed'. How can I change this to disable the DHCP???

What would you do?!? Would you give up and buy an official virgin one or would you try to change the settings because I feel like giving up now and just buying one with the installation cd to make my life easier. But then I'll be left with my one and will have to have the hassle of selling it on ebay!!!

Please help and many thanks......

You boys do know that virgin locks access to the MAC address of their router. So you need to clone the mac of the router supplied by virging to your new hardware.

@ Guest - that used to be true, but I don't think it's the case anymore. I certainly haven't had to clone the MAC address of my (non-Netgear) router.
