Hi Skeemin21.

Welcome to The Scream!.

Did you note down the Dll by any chance, was it ikewuxiqeniwa.dll

That is a randomly made up Dll name which I treat as malicious.

I have checked your HJT log and there is only that Dll and a couple of dead and/or unnecessary entries.

Run HJT again and fix the following entries....

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Scuwo] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\ikewuxiqeniwa.dll",e

O23 - Service: Viewpoint Manager Service - Viewpoint Corporation - C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe

Reboot the PC after the entries have been fixed and see if the Dll error has gone.

I also noted you are running 2 anti-virus programs at the same time. EG. McAfee and Avast.

It isnt a good idea to run 2 at the same time, because they will conflict with each other and may also contribute to the PC slowing down.

If I was you, I would uninstall one and leave your preferred A/V in place.

See if that improves the problem and post back a fresh HJT log for perusal.

Thanks for the quick response. I fixed the dll you mention and nowI don't have an error anymore :) Here is the new HJT log. Is there anything else here you feel I dont really need? Like the dead and unnecessary entries you mentioned?

Hiya.

There isnt anything really to worry about in that new log.

The main ones I wanted removed have gone.

Is the PC any better, I see you still have 2 Anti-Virus programs installed, you really need to get rid of one.

Let me know what the outcome is.

The error is gone but it's still sort of a slow start up. I'm guessing because of the anti-virus programs?

I've tried to uninstall McAfee since the subscription has expired anyway but it still pops up in the tray when my pc starts up. I ran the uninstall through the add/remove programs. Are there any files I may have to manually delete?

Hiya.

According to your last HJT log, there are several instances of McAfee loading up, etc.

Have you uninstalled McAfee since that last log ??. If so post another HJT log and I can see where it is loading from.

There is a removal tool for McAfee, but I have no experience with it, so cannot give you any guidance with it. I will post the URL for it in my next reply, as I have to locate it first, lol.

Have you installed anything new lately that may have caused the slow bootup, or has it been ongoing for some time.

EDIT.

Assuming you did uninstall McAfee after the last HJT log....

Right click on this URL and select Save As... or whatever.

http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

Save the MCPR.exe file to your desktop. When its downloaded, double click on the file and it will open up a white screen which then auto starts and removes any remnants of McAfee.

Hiya.

Good show on the McAfee removal.

The tscupgrd.exe came with XP SP2 from what I can tell, its a Setup Custom Action dll, whatever that is, lol. So it is legite, What effect it would have trashing it, I could not say. I dont think it is doing any harm myself.

Has the PC bootup improved or not.

Avast does a scan on boot up, that may be causing the slowdown.

I havent got that set up, because I disabled it when I installed Avast, but have just looked at the settings.

If you right click on the Avast icon in the system tray and select Start Avast Anti-Virus a window will pop up and start to scan the memory, stop that and then close the Help window.

In the window thats left open, on the top left is an arrow pointing upwards, click on that arrow and look for the Schedule Boot-Time Scan in the menu.

Click on that entry and it should ask to disable the scan, click Yes to disable.

If you want it re-enabled again at a later time, go back through the process I outlined above and click on the Schedule Boot-Time Scan entry again and it will show a button called Schedule, click that Schedule button to re-activate the boot time scan if needed.

It will ask to restart the PC to initiate it.

There are also some other settings in there, that you can alter to suit your needs, etc.

But firstly see if it is scheduled and disable it, then restart the PC and see if the bootup speed has improved. :D
