Default Relay 550 Not permitted - help!

I have an @virgin.net email address running through the usual virgin pop server.

I 've been trying to add a second email account which needs to download its email from a different server.

I've tried setting the outgoing mailserver as the 'different' imailserver and the incoming as the usual virgin server, but get the 'relay 550 not permitted' message and can't send anything.

I do some volunteer work for a charity and would like to be able to do this - any ideas if there's a way round it with virgin as my ISP?

I think you need to use Virgin as the outgoing server and then set-up incoming mail with the settings relevant to each. That's how mine is set-up for my Blueyonder (aka Virgin) and WorldOnline mail.

e.g. Incoming mail from BT POP sever, mail.btinternet.com
Outgoing mail from Virgin smtp.virgin.net
