Angry Re: Suffering and problems with TalkTalk broadband signup

I'm having heaps of problems with attempting to get TalkTalk to change a telephone number. This has now been going on for nearly two months without resolution. Does anyone have the e-mail address of David Thatcher?

Hi Dunemist,

Can you give us a bit of background on the number change request. If you jion the TalktalkMembers Forum we should be able to get this done for you.

im assuming you've tried alternatives such as witheald number, anonyous caller reject and choose to refuse ?

Thank you very much for your extremely speedy reply. The background (briefly) is that we recently moved into my deceased mother's home. The house was empty for about 18 months and we had no reason to believe that her 'phone number would not have been reallocated in this time. The short story is that having waited for 20 days for our landline to be connected (instead of the 14 days we were initially told) we were then unfortunately given mum's old telephone number. For emotional reasons, I immediately informed TalkTalk that I really did not want to keep this number. One reason being that mum used to call my sister every day and, therefore, it would be extremely insensitive of me to take the same number, knowing that when I telephone her now, my mum's number will show on her caller display, or on her automated call message system. Anyway (I'm trying to be brief as this has now been going on for two months and we still don't have resolution), we were informed TalkTalk will change the number and absorb the cost, because of the sensitive nature of the request. Eight weeks later; and we have now been told this is not possible. The latest conversation has been with a Team Leader who has said she will look into it. We know that telephone numbers can be changed, as BT has already told us that if we sign up with them we will automatically get a new number. The fact that this is now two months after we first asked for the number change; as well as that we have had to constantly call TalkTalk for updates, is really bad customer service - which is why I wanted the e-mail address of the boss. I think enough is enough and he should know what has been going on.

If you can help - wonderful. Thanks for trying anyway. Am a bit confused re protocol now though, do I still need to join the forum you mentioned, or is this e-mail enough for you to be able to help? Thanks.

Thank you TTBoy. I have joined the forum and posted my query again - don't know if that is the correct procedure, but am kind of stressed out by all this now.

Your help is appreciated.

Am not sure why the comment re AOL was posted as a reply to my initial thread, as I have never mentioned AOL. Don't think I've said much about Broadband either. My issue was with the TT landline department.

Hey, just a quick question regarding the stability of my TT BB.
My household have recently changed over to TT from BT, activating the account Thursday just gone (30th Oct).
Since then the reliability of my connection has been terrible, most noticable in the evenings.
For example today I've been fine all day with no problems. But, from about 19:50 I couldn't stay connected for longer than 10 minutes before it failing, then reconnecting, either by itself or via that Assist & Go shite (witch works for all of 2 mins =D). Then at around 22:20 all this trouble stopped and have been flawlessly online since.
Being an avid online gamer and watching streaming content from the net (youtube etc) this gets very frustrating during peak hours, having the game crash out every time the net fails (really, where's the fun when you spend most of your play time looking at loading screens =P).
Even if I do nothing, I can watch the router connect, disconnect, then reconnect every couple of minutes during this time. It was the same last night too.

I've been with BT broadband for the last 4 years or so and never had this problem before.
I've read through several sites that all say that connection speeds tend to slow at peak hours (not a problem to me), and several saying similar problems to what I have (problem).
Is this a general TT problem, could it be something in my area, what can I do or should I change my ISP if I want a reliable service??
Also after reading said sites I fear phoning the 'help'lines

I have no complaint with TT in terms of the pricing and broadband supply when its connected,
but having now since I joined them had to go through to Dunstone due to them continually losing my payments within their system, I eventually got it sorted out via one of his personal secretaries Yvonne Brierly, very efficent and knowlegable...unfortunately they (talk talk billing lost my payment again, and I was barred again, when I phoned they said it was because there was an overdue amount of .20pence outstanding??????????????
Sitting inthe internet cafe for the second time waiting for them to reconnect, I then find I have been handed over to some ****-ant debt collection agency for a bill that was paid months ago.........So I am now suing Dunstan and Company for breach of Contract,
pain and suffering, stress, and anything else I can think of, I am content with the service and charges but not the billing whose director or manager is a lobotomised imbecile who could not organise a **** up in brewery, and I see no reason why I should be made to suffer because they employ inept staff to run their deparments...subsequently I name the C.E.O Dunston and the billing manager in the summons and seek substantial damages.. only way to make them sit up and take notice...

TalkTalk personally i would never have their phone or broadband, they in my opinion are as bad as tiscali were

But if you are lucky enough to live within a reasonable distance from your exchange and have a good quality line, And above all are able to be connected to their LLU and go for the Pro ,then providing that you never need to contact their support you should be ok, because that's where they fail, but what do you expect from a budget isp?
As for the throttled/shaped and capped to 40gb essentials don't touch it, and the price goes up also if they cannot connect you to their LLU as it in some area's is oversubscribed
Partly helped by talktalk's aggressive sales techniques they even do doorstepping, using less than truthful methods to sell sell sell sell something that they clearly in a lot of cases are unable to supply FMPF (LLU) So they put some on to the resold BTwholesale product,IP STREAM , which is not good to say the least, then after some time they jack up the price
