Default Website help

Hi folks

I'm trying to set up a website or blog for my photography and design portfolio, so I can get it all in one place online for potential employers to browse through. However I've not got a lot of experience with website building and there seem to be a LOT of different options I'm looking at Wordpress as it seems so popular but 1and1 http://website.1and1.co.uk/website-builder have also caught my eye because it looks like they give a bit more guidance... Also not sure how 'professional' Wordpress can look? Really want my site to look slick and like I know what I'm doing!

Anybody have any experience of this?

Thanks so much!
Charlie
