Default Disgusting premium rate call charges

Hope folks agree we should get this issue brought to the top...

See thread and poll on News - Premium rate call ban

The more the search engines find threads showing concern the more likely something might be done!!!

Hi Worldlife. I think ALL premium lines should be banned. I think it is a nasty way to make money.

Regards
Dave

Agree with you absolutely seaview......

What we are on about here is the dubious practices of some premium line operators of getting adults and children to make calls to their services without the user being warned adequately that he or she is linking to a premium call service and /or the account holder properly authorising such calls.

The only way at present the account holder can stop such expensive calls being charged against the account is to ask the telephone company to put a permanent ban on premium rate calls being made from the line.

Hi Chaps, Its not the content I object too it's the indirect way of charging for the service. It is open to abuse. It's a bit like those "free" television contests that require you to phone in your answer. Calls costing much more than the cost of the call. Some naive people might assume that the competition is actually free.
It's this deception that I dont like.

Regards

Dave

That is the idea!

By the way if one is worried about premium rate calls it does seem the answer is to get them bared.

Absolutely. Why should the naive and innocent be targeted without protection in this way.
The system of charging should be direct and obvious, rather hidden in the cost of the call.
