Lightbulb Hijack This Log - Self help

Hijack This Online Scanner

This is a online scanner for Hijack This Logs. I have tried and it seems o.k., but (you knew that was coming:rolleyes: ) It did give me 2 false positives on the new ATI drivers saying they were possibly spyware, but this could be because it hasn't been updated:shrug:

Hijack This Tutorial

This is a very in depth look at how to read logs and links on how to solve any problems that you encounter, well worth a read.

As always don't delete anything unless you are 100% sure you are doing the right thing. If in doubt ask.

Good link crankykick. If we all use this(in the first instance) it should save Zero2004 and others, a load of time.

Regards

The guys over at SWI, Tom Coyote`s and other dedicated spyware forums are NOT recommending using this online checker.
It has been tested and shows many false positives and false negatives!
Use it as a guide only.

Cheers,

Trev.

Hijackthis updated to ver 1.99.1
Well, it took a bit longer to finish, but finally HijackThis 1.99.1 is available! This version has a boatload of improvements and fixes a lot of bugs, the most important being the crash bug on the O23 method ('... has generated errors and needs to be closed') on certain systems.

In other news, several big antispyware companies have dropped detection of WhenU's Save! program, without notifying anyone. After WhenU partnering with Aluria it seems WhenU is up to something. Read more about it here.

[Update] It seems McAfee is detecting the new HijackThis version as W32/Generic.worm!p2p. It is not the first time this happened and probably not the last time either. There is no virus in HijackThis. McAfee incorrectly detects the PE compression method I use on all of my programs as a generic Kazaa worm. I will try to contact McAfee about this and see if the incorrect detection can be removed in their next update.

Just found another online HiJackThis Log analyser here....

http://hjt.iamnotageek.com/

Seems pretty good and you can also click on the Underlined entries for a description of their functions etc.

I cannot say if it is 100% accurate, so use with caution and read the disclaimer there, just above the analysis window.

Cool Re: Hijack This Log - Self help Online check

Hi,

Maybe I am in the wrong section but how do I get rid of these ridiculous spyware programmes that infect my computer every so often. It really is irritating, but I don't want to clear my hard drive. I have a lot of really important stuff on this computer.

Thanks

Daniel De Silva

Hi Daniel.

These are the 2 mostly used Spy/Scumware cleaners. Both are free.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ << Ad-Aware SE v1.05.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html << Spybot v1.3

Download either one or both, but update them first before scanning the PC. :)
