Think I still had problem with Firefox. I will try it again. Microsoft keep bothering me about the protection mode! Get messages saying certain things are not protected. ie:- McAfee spam!
Microsoft be gone. :D

Hiya.

I think this is a problem with SAS, its either a false positive or SAS throwing a wobbler. EG. The cookie entry is embedded in SAS and is locked in a constant loop.

These are my findings from your input and my observations.

1. You report the same cookie in the same location, time and time again.

2. You have set every available adjustment to stop the cookie.

3. I asked you previously to look for the cookie, before zapping it in SAS and it wasnt even in the Cookie folder.

4. SAS is the only malware program finding the cookie.

5. You have installed Firefox and SAS is still finding the cookie.

6. Firefox DOES NOT, use the same folder for cookies as IE8 does, it is in a similar location, but not the exact same folder. So Firefox is not at fault. Go to 1.

7. In my conclusion, I can only see 2 options.

7a. Stop using SAS and find somethng else.

7b. Try uninstalling SAS, reboot the PC and install it again. (You may have to download the setup file again if you havent still got the original, which is probably out of date now anyway.)

This may or not work, depending on how much is uninstalled, because some programs leave behind data remnants, which can affect a new install, unless of course SAS actually asks to delete its database etc when being uninstalled, which you can OK for deletion.

If it still finds the cookie after a new install, go to 7a. :D

Or you could buy " Pc tools spyware doctor v6" anti-spyware,this as well as a manual scan, has real time cookie protection, you can also get it with anti-virus,but that is more expensive, see spyware doctor price for 1 yr

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/PC-To...-for-PC-Retail

you can find more info about it here

http://www.pctools.com/spyware-docto...FU0B4wodDkLdJA,

plus you download it from this page, then follow the instructions to add your subscription,as is a 30day trial version until you do,which has limited protection ect
for the price you can't go far wrong,or the other alternative is a anti-virus product that will let you block these cookies,so they don't get on your pc, but spyware doc does the job,

Don't put your hand in your pocket yet.

I don't get this cookie as I have banned this and other hosts in my hosts file.
It would help if we knew which website is giving you this cookie.

Hiya.

The file is probably hidden, so you need to unhide the system files.

Go to the link below and it tells/shows you what to do, you just need to tick the Show hidden files and folders option, nothing else. OK it.

http://www.vistarevisited.com/2007/0...iles-in-vista/

Then go to the folder called etc, that Memfis told you about, the file will now be visible. It hasnt got any extension like .txt, etc, its just called Hosts.

Right click on the file as Mem said and open with notepad, then copy and past the entries he gave you into the bottom of the hosts file, close notepad and OK the save.

You can then go back to the Unhide files and folders option and tick the Do not show hidden files and folders option. OK it.

Its says C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc

Not C:\Windows\System\Drivers\

You have missed out the 32 in System32 in your reply, there is a System folder in the Windows folder, but that is not the one we want.

And the path does exist, it is the same in Windows 2000, XP and Vista

Hiya.

Sounds like the file is missing, which it shouldnt be.

You can try making one.

Go to C:\ > Windows > System32 > Drivers > etc << folder.

Right click in there and select New Text Document.

Copy/paste what is in BOLD below, into it.

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
0.0.0.0 atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 .atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 *.atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 clk.atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 rmd.atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 view.atdmt.com
0.0.0.0 switch.atdmt.com

Now go to File on the toolbar of Notepad and select Save As...

In the Save As window that opens, type in hosts into the File name box.

In the Save As Type box, use the dropdown arrow to the right and select All Files (*.*) << Its normally at the top of the list.

Click the Save button.

If there is a remnant New Text Document.txt file left behind, just delete it.

You should now have a hosts file in that etc folder, of which I have also added the 7 extra entries in the above BOLD text, that memfis mentioned.

Huh! ?????

I have made one and attached it to this post.

Right click on the attachment and Save As or whatever it is.

Save to the Desktop for ease of location.

Once saved, rename the hosts.txt file to hosts. EG. Remove the .txt from the end. OK it if it asks to change the file type, etc.

Copy the new hosts file and paste it into the etc folder.

Once it is in there, go back to the Desktop and delete the original hosts file you downloaded.
