http://www.ezydvd.com.au

Despite being the other side of the globe, its still quite competitive. Subtract 9% off the prices for international orders, postage is about 2 or less per disk.

Disks are Region 4, PAL (not fuzzy old NTSC)

eg
Alien Legacy = AUS$ 99.00
minus 9%= AUS$ 90.09
= 32 !!

+ 6.20 shipping

play247 (aka play.com - see above) are very good. Except when the local shops have sales on; they're about the only place I buy DVD's now.

Like Ian, I tend to use sites in Oz. Family Box Office have got some good deals and I've never had a problem with them. Most of their DVDs are Region 2 and 4 which means I can play them on my R2 Tosh.

http://www.fbo.com.au/dvd.asp

If you register as being in the UK prices are shown in GB pounds and less state tax, ie Wild Wild West is currently 5.82 + p&P of 2.10 (7.92) - the more you order the cheaper the postage. (18.99 on Amazon)

Another site I use is: http://www.dvdplaza.com.au/ which is a portal, and has a list of Oz DVD sites on the right-hand side.

http://www.dvdupdate.co.uk/ let's you check prices across a load of sites to see which is cheapest.

I've just looked at http://www.dvdupdate.co.uk/ and found it pretty useless, for instance it threw out both Moulin Rouge and Bridget Jones!

I've also had a look at http://www.fbo.com.au/dvd.asp and found them dearer (excluding their P&P) than http://www.play.com/ who include free P&P.

Gem, these were only examples for people to look at and make up their own minds. It was never meant to be a comprehensive list of the cheapest sites on the Net.

Incidentally, the example I used above (Wild Wild West) is 14.99 on play.com - postage-free, compared to 7.92 (inc Postage) on FBO. Personally, I don't slavishly stick with one supplier, but have a good look around first, to see what options there are - and there are plenty.

Wish I'd had people pointing me in the right direction when I first started though!

Just be careful of ordering items over 18 as you may get caught for import tax.

Try DVDCrave which is another excellent Aussie site.

Cool Re: Buying DVD's online

I have used (Play.com, as I said above, and) recently Sendit.com and DVDpopcorn

And I've looked at (but not used) DVD.co.uk

But who ever you use, check out the prices elsewhere INCLUDING p&p.

Don't think anyone's mentioned it but I always do a price comparison on:

http://www.best-dvd-price.co.uk/

It searches from most DVD retailers for the cheapest possible price - very good and recommended! SendIt are one of my favourite places at the moment as their prices are very competitive and quick to deliver.

I always use www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk - as it lets you choose all regions, or just Region 2.

plus www.find-dvd.co.uk for, errr... UK disks

or for just Region 1 disks, simply use http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/r1/index.htm

I can also personally highly recommend www.dvdpacific.com - U.S.A. based but you can adjust the prices easily with the "adjust currency" feature, very cheap, reliable and fast delivery too

This is a long running thread!

A few of those sites don't work anymore. I use some of the following sites:

SPAM REMOVED - SILVER
Shop Bot - Search a few shop bots at once!

What me giving other parties a download link? or do you mean is downloading the movies legal? giving a link i would say is legal,as for downloading that would be Dependant on the source of the downloaded data,if from a p2p such as bit torrent ect, then possibly illegal,as for other download methods then be my guest, but a person who downloads a film from a torrent technically may be braking the copyright laws, but as long as he/she dont distribute that material then i very much doubt that they would be that bothered to prosecute you,or would they be that petty?

Question Re: Buying DVD's online

I was referring to the actual download, would that have been legal?
Having said that, I doubt that we Screamers would wish to promote an illegal download site.
