Default Data Recovery - Emergency!!

I went to a friends house to sort out their non working xp pc. I couldnt fix the installation and the cd rom was faulty so I had to use a packard bell rescue disk. This reinstalled XP Home and the original utilities he had.

He is a mobile mechanic and has a program called Quickbooks for all his business accounts. He had backed up his data to floppy disk, however when we reloaded Quickbooks although it recognises a file being on the disk it wont load the company up. He contacted Quickbooks and they have quoted him 700 to retrieve the data from the disk which they claim to be corrupted.
I am of the opinion that this is a complete ****take.

I think I may have two chances of recovering this essential data.

1) Some kind of floppy data recovery program
2) A Hard drive recovery program as the original data may still be on there.

I have no experience of this area though so I was wondering if anyone knows of or uses any software that they can recommend for this purpose.

Any help in either department of any kind would be greatly appreciated. He cant do anything with his business invoices or anything else until this is sorted. I think Quickbooks know this and thats why they are charging an exorbitant amount.

Confirm Scoobs good advice, This program worked for me, after a format I needed some info back and found i could recover 95% of the files that were there before the hard drive was formated.
