News! Hacker Backdoors Popular Routers

Cisco, Linksys, Belkin, Netgear, Diamond, LevelOne and OpenWAG are among the routers said to have backdoors capable of resetting the router to default settings, from where they can be compromised. The vulnerable devices were all manufactured under contract by Sercomm.

It appears that a listening port 32764 was discovered by Eloi Vanderbeken, while in the process of trying to regain access to his own router, when he forgot the password.

There is a comprehensive but incomplete list of affected routers at GitHub, as well as routers apparently not affected and a few possible solutions.

You can read the full story at The Register.
