Red face Font on MSN etc

Another prob from me. Since getting a larger monitor I thought would help my eyesight! I have enlarged most things but the windows that open MSN and such like I can't seem to enlarge font! The only way I can read whom is on line is to reduce the pixel settings, which leaver's a space around the screen! Which defeats the object of getting a bigger screen!

Any ideas. most welcome.

Hiya.

Altering the Pixel settings, should open any program window in varying sizes, depending on what it is set to. So there should be no reason to keep altering Font sizes if the correct setting is chosen. Although some settings do not give good results, with borders around the main screen or possibly offset to one side.

What is your Screen resolution set to ??

Try setting it to 800 by 600 pixels.

Mine is set to 1024 by 768 pixels, reducing it to the above 800 x 600, makes it look like a kids first reading book, lol.

Or try 640 by 480 pixels, that is the default vga size when no video drivers are installed and/or when you are in Safe Mode and everything is enormous, lol.

Screen is set to 1024 by 768 most things are readable, but not that application for setting or any application like that.. 800 by 600 pixel leaves a border, which defeats the object of having a larger screen. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about this. Thanks anyway.

on my pc I can adjust the dpi (dots per inch), have you tried this?

right click on desktop, select properties.
goto the settings tab and then click advanced.

If you have the ability to change it, it should be listed on one of the tabs.

Unfortunately every graphics card is different so I can only point you in the general direction of where the setting is.

No dpi in the advanced. I enlarged font on all applications there, it does not seem to cover font for that widow application. Not to worry. Thanks Memfis.

Hiya.

I am trying to find you the easiest and most universal way of getting all programs to use the same size fonts, altering the Screen size is the most probable.

What make and model is the new Monitor.

I have never seen a Monitor, using 800 x 600 with a border before, every one I have owned defaults to a full screen in that resolution.

Maybe the Horizontal and Vertical settings can be adjusted to make the 800 x 600 screen fit the monitor. It should tell you in the manual how to do it.

Hiya.

I suggest trying all the lower scale resolutions, open your display properties, click on the Settings tab, and slide the Screen Area setting bar to the far left, OK the change and see if that is any better, you have about 15 seconds to decide, by clicking Yes to save that setting, or No to go back the the previous setting.

Do the same again and move the slider to the next resolution and so on until you find one that is suitable, they will be in the section lower than the one you have now at 1024 by 768.

I have tried a few of the lower scale settings for a test and many result in bigger windows, Icons, Text, etc, without you altering any other such settings in each application/program. Mine has 6 resolutions in the lower scale, including the 1024 by 768 setting, but that will depend on the Video card you have installed and what the Monitor can handle. Some were unstable, so unsuitable.

Obviously you dont want one with the black borders, lol.

anything below 1024 by 768. Gives me black border! All browser pages fine. On opening the setting I know it says themes appearance etc. Its that sort of thing I can't read and there seems no way to enlarge it.

Maybe; I need the opticians.

Hiya.

Well all the ones I tried, didnt have any borders and all the windows/applications/programs I opened in those resolutions were all enlarged in every aspect, except one that was unstable, so I didnt bother with that one.

I cant think of anything else at the moment, that will give you larger text in all programs, etc. If I find anything, I will let you know.

Opticians might be worth a try, lol.
