Strange that, I was earlier looking up some info on a running process called Msmpeng and it led me to a page on how to disable or remove Defender!

Don't know if the link is of any use to you?

http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-vist...s-msmpeng-exe/

Also strange that I don't visit here often but for some reason I did tonight, you must have sent some positive waves!

If you have the free version of malwarebytes, then run it to see if it finds anything.

Otherwise, my good old standby is another free piece of anti malware called HiJackThis. It's worth downoading and then get it to run a scan and save the logfile. Come back and post the file here and I or someone else will have a look to see if there's anything amiss.

Good luck !

Is the problem sorted or not ?

If malwarebytes has it sorted then no need to run HJT or post the results.

If Malwarebytes gets rid of it but it comes back again, it may be that you'll need to temporarily turn off the windows system restore until you've run malwarebytes again and it has removed the problem. Then reboot the 'puter and turn on system restore once more and create a restore point immediately.

EDIT: Just realised after looking at the HJT logfile you posted, what SAS means !

SAS > Super antispyware, protect home page change, had to uncheck to put in home page I wanted. It doesn't always get mailware, so I run mailware as well, when I have a poblem. Home pages sorted now thanks for help.
