Default BBC Iplayer

just downloaded this from the bbc

...not a lot of joy, everytime I try and use it it freezes the comp.

Hiya.

That player, will sap all the power and bandwidth from your PC when its running. It also uses the dodgy P2P Kontiki/Kservice.exe software, which has been mentioned before on this Forum.

When you use Azureus, you can limit your uploading etc using the application. You don't have to mess about with firewalls each time you start it up. They should make the Iplayer work like that. They didn't, because they knew that everybody would stop uploading and the system wouldn't work.

Also, they should make it work for Linux, but don't get me started on that!

Its just a cheap shoddy way of doing it. Instead of streaming the content to you alone, they want you to seed it to every man and his dog on the planet at the expense of you and your bandwidth.

@Tattaloop.

Why destroy your Linux box with that carp, it or anything even resembling it, wont be going near any of my PC's.
