as far as I know it's windows and linux only.

have a peak arround grid.org

all scumware removal software should ask before it removes anything at all. However saying that, due to the huge number of UD users I'm sure this type of software is aware of UD and grid.org anyway and wouldn't remove it.

Default So that's that then....

from here

"BREAKING NEWS: GRID.ORG MISSION COMPLETE
On Friday, April 27, 2007, Grid.org announced it has completed its mission to demonstrate the viability and benefits of large-scale Internet-based grid computing, and will be retiring its famous efforts to support critical health research.

Grid.org was the largest and most ambitious public interest grid venture ever attempted, and thanks to Grid.org and its millions of members, dozens of similar global grid projects have been able to catch on and succeed by following its footsteps. "

There's a comment from a Oxford University chap on the left, but it's a rather unsatisfyingly damp squib of a conclusion if you ask me.

Just about to follow the uninstallation steps (top left of page)

Ho, hum....

yeah - hopefully they got something useful from all the computer power, I guess it will take a long time to sift the information and check out if any are useful..

I don't think I am going to direct any more computers to similar projects,. it basically means running the processor at full tilt nearly 24/7 which is a bit of a luxury,.,. still,.. glad I did it

Aah, yes, as Mary Hopkins would have said.

But what of now?

As I'm leaving my PC on now and then for torrent traffic, I've concluded that I may as well donate the otherwise idle processing power somewhere.

The irony of using extra electricity for 'The Clean Energy Project' wasn't lost on me so I've thrown my hat at

Should I be older and wiser by now?

I was excited by the idea back when and it felt like we were doing something useful (hopefully we were!) these days I think running a home PC full tilt 24/7 is not something I have thought too much about or been interested in doing at least,.

don't know what's changed really,. perhaps it was partly the lack of feedback from the original project (I guess if they had concrete results and there had been some kind of breakthrough!? then it would seem a lot more worthwhile! Not that I had that expectation when we took part),. I also think a home PC (even a quick one) is not that efficient a platform to crunch numbers (ok yes if you can get 100,000's of them working together) - there are other ways

if there was a really great project I might re-consider
