Hay all...got some photos of Alfie....we went for a walk as usual but he found himself a little fish!!!! lol so we let him carry it on most of the walk, which most of the other walkers found funny...
He also found a fresh mole hole and he just couldnt stop himself from have a good old fashioned digging session...so we just let him tire himself out and get bored.
With all these funny happenings that we have with our little man ,he is really starting to show his true self as a jack Russel , barking at the dead fish and so on,to tell us what he has found and digging at small holes to scent work, which can carry him off into woods and thick shrubs....looking for them there pesky RRRRabbits!! lol..

these are ones of the fish...

went out with alfie and bracken today in the new forest,. was really good fun to see them both off lead running and playing together,. bracken was well behaved and loved going in an out the stream there, no pics from me as it's enough to manage bracken

bracken has crashed out downstairs - all the chasing around really wore him out

Sounds as if you all had a good time, can't wait for better weather, to do the mile walk too where I can let my dogs off lead, they so love it and it does wear then out for the evening.

Just had to check Alfie out, as we now own (or maybe he owns us? LOL) a Jack Russell cross, check my pictures in this forum. Have to say I love the little fella, and everything about Alfie reminds me of Scruffs, my own loveable rogue! He'll chase cats once they turn their backs on him, but has been 'pawed' at by our half-Burmese female, who is highly temperamental at times - but he'll still have a go at her if he thinks she isn't looking!

Digging is also his love - he'll dig holes in the garden flower bed, and he is very quick at nipping noses! I come home from work at 6am and he's like a little racehorse, leaping all over the bed and trying to 'kiss' me hello, with those razor teeth! Scamp!

LOL sounds like lots of fun canta... i would try to stop the nose nipping or you may end up with a Michael Jackson nose when he is older lmao

The first thing i would seriously consider is puppie school!!! i thought it was a silly idea and that a JR could not be trained!! how wrong i was!! . Firstly its the socialization with other dogs/pups and humans young and old!! this is really good for a JR as they need to know EVERYTHING! LOL and meeting other dogs is a real good help to stop a JR being a little off shall we say to them.

We use a school near to us and we pay weekly not for lets say 6 months at a time (this is bad as you may be ill or puppie maybe ill 1 week and you loose that week ) so if you do choose one see what other types of dogs go and how each type of dog is treated!!! some place that i have heard of love one breed and focus there attentions on that breed/owner!! which is another bad thing...they need to love ALL dogs and understand each dogs/breeds needs, like our Alfie being a JR gets bored with the 1 1/2 hr lesson he is in now
as he has to stand around whilst the other dogs do there training and when it comes to his go he tears in to the center of the hall and attacks his attempt on a new trick with way too much excitment lol..

So enjoy them as a puppie for as long as poss' but a puppie school is goodfor YOU AND the Pup!

Alfie has his silver exam this Friday/2nd,which will take him to the Gold class, but we dont think he is ready for it so we shall use it as a learning curve and train him a little longer/harder for his second attempt! but then again he might just fly through it and pass, now that would be great

oh and Alfie is 1yr and 4 months . 10.80kg

RF - loving his dog too much

2nd the puppy class thing,. even if you don't go hardcore with long term training the socialisation at an early age is very important,. they get them used to other dogs and ppl + kids etc in a safe environment,. once he's had his jabs and is ready to go outside take him down and what you think

keep us updated w/ pics also

Good luck Alfie (+his handler) for tonights exam

Bracken + Alfie spent an enjoyable couple of hours down the beach earlier today, Bracken even managed a bit of swimming, I think trying to impress Alfie, generally he never goes in past his depth

Well i was really impressed with Bracken...not only for his way of playing with sticks but also todays swimming.Like Sil' said he never seems to got out of his depth...but as dogs do when in packs' is to act/behave a little differently compared to a solo walk,Bracken just showe off to Alfie and went swimming for sticks several times.....although he did get a little worn out.So with the stick fetched back out of the sea bracken would leave it in the sea so Sil' nor i could get it without getting wet!! (cheecky) so another small dog called...um...oh! Alfie lol would run in and steal it from under Brackens nose and run as far onto the beach as he could or untill Bracken realised what Aflie was doing!! this lasted for some time...one would fetch/swim the other stole and i would throw it back in for it to start all over again!

i took some piccies but they didnt come out too well here are two that i could fix a little....

Well last night Alfie had his second big night of exams. This one was for his "Silver" class,to which he would go up into "Gold" class . He started the exam on fire doing ALL he was asked to do,but with little Alfie things arent always as they seem. One test was a leave/stay for 2mins' and the dog has to stay still, well Aflie caught a smell of something which was,for some reason, more interesting than lying on the floor doing nothing!so he got up...OOPS!! thats a no no in the exam! but luckly they sent all the other dogs out of the room for Alfie and another JR to try once more...and he did it
So as the test went on Alfie went on doing his best as he always does.
the last 2 test were to walk down the road ,healing and crossing roads then followed by getting in and out of car in an orderly fashion!....

Well after all this testing , tea was handed out to Handlers and guests plus doughnuts as a dog had his birthday... and we waited to hear who had past and who had failed ....

one by one they called the dogs name out and the owners got there certificates .

So we waited for our name....... and waited as the next owner went up...then another......... we were on the edge off our seats by now......

Well what can we say???

its only been a week ! ? and alfie had a little break with us,going to the beach and also going out with bracken(Sils' dog) .....
We have been enjoy his good efforts at his school and so on,only to find out on this friday just gone, that he has now been entered for his gold class!!! in three weeks time *big gulp* can you believe it ??? i know i cant and neither can my beth, who is his official handler!
So we got some hard training to do.If he fails then this will be a good exercise for all of us to see what is involved. The exam for gold is three blumming hours long *even bigger gulp* and Alfie gets bored after an hour or so hehehe

So fingers crossed and any other body extremity for the little man

Who said a JR cant be trained ?? LMAO

Wink Re: Alfie, jack russel pup

Well tonight was the night of Alfies big exam,GOLD!!!

unfortunatley we havent had as much time to spare training the little horror, due to house moving plans and all the paperwork that goes with it .
But we were told by one of the trainers at the class that we should just go for it! and we did...... who needs training when you little JR is a clever dog....

We passed!! with comments from the Test lady(who leans more to GSDs' ) that he was a fantastic Jack' , high praise we felt

so there you go,he passed, has a 4th certificate and my Beth got a yellow polo shirt to wear to the classes,to show other owners that she and alfie are in the Gold class.

Beth and Alf' are also getting involved in a display team for a show day,so i will try to get some photos of that when it happens
plus i will try to get a photo of Alfie and his certificates ....

Good Boy!!
