Angry Play.com poor after sales.

Shoping online, only myself to blame.
Bought an Xbox 360 from play.com, 6 weeks and I got the ring of death.
Phoned Play.com and was told not their responsibility after 28 days and to send it to Microsoft.
To far to take it back personally.
Phoned T/Standards who said they are breaking the law, but was advised to send it to Microsoft anyway, this was better than going to County Court. Do they now something I don't!!
Have now sent my Xbox to Microsoft repair centre, so that lets Play.com off of the hook I believe.

We live and learn!

I've always found them OK, however had had similar issues when had problems with Playstations in the past - Sony has to come and get it, not the store.

Sorry to here that..... I was looking at the new playstation3 and was planning to visit the site I think I'll stay clear of them, the thing is you can always get a bargain on web but it comes at a cost

I can recommend John Lewis. I would have bought the Xbox from them but they didn't have them in stock at the time.
I was in to much in a hurry, my regret.

Never had an issue with play, but i have only ever bought media from them (dvd's, music, games, etc) never electrical kit.

I would send it to MS and then bill play.com for cariage. Then small claims (via the web)...

Have now had my Xbox 360 retuned from Microsoft, A New one.
No reply from Play.com regarding poor after sales.
Numerous emails two letters both recorded, just shows they don't care about customers!

Have now given up.

The reason T/Standards said go to Microsoft is probably for speed as Play would probably drag it out and in that time you are still without your Xbox.

Red rings of death are a pain - if play are being rubbish then just contact microsoft directly.

They have a very efficient service, I had RROD 6 months ago and between making my first call to them and getting a new 360 back was a week exactly.

A courier picks up old xbox and drops off new one to your door.

I think the problem with play is there off shore base. Their prices appear to indicate minimal margins, and therefore little left over to cover a award winning customer service department. Consumer direct are usually great leverage for reluctant retaillers.
