no - is true,. anyone who downloads the file from you (or if you are downloading from them) has a connection with your PC - at which point you can see their IP

Peer guardian and other blacklists prevent you from connecting with known 'bad' addresses.
If someone uses an address that is not on the blacklist you will connect to that ip address and they can see your IP address and log your activity.

I don't know much about this, but on the thing I saw they mentioned blacklists. Also, so they say, if you use a proxy server the Man can't see you

Anyway, Kennedy was killed by aliens.

So was Lady Di

But everyone should be aware that TCP connections are 2 way, If you are connected to someone, then they are connected to you, and know your IP address.

And yes, I know what you're saying - I work in a computer shop, and in the telco industry.

So what's the point of a proxy if the Man is controlling them too?

Anyway, I don't do pirate downloading - too slow if you are on Pipex
