Default what filesharing program??

hi
i know the whole purpose of p2p but i still got a problem: i only got DSL 1000MB which means that i can only download 1000MB a month including up/download. after that it costs 1,59 cent/MB.
i ve just installed eMule but the problem is that i cant cancel uploads (i need to do it because of the problem described above). does anybody know a filesharing program where u can cancel uploads apart from kazaa??

best wishes

P.S.: I hope u understand my problem/post!!!

Shareaza makes my machine crash.

It looks good while its working though.

It will also allow you to share nothing if thats what you really want to do. If your running Windows XP Professional with Sygate Personal Firewall and AVG Antivirus, dont bother downloading it.

You can throttle the upload speed in emule/edonkey and bittorrent (and probably shareaza), so you onlu upload at 5-10KB/s, but none will let you prevent people downloading from you (which is why they generally work quite well)

@ speedster: what do u mean by "You can pause downlaods with Shareaza"?? can u pause uploads or downloads? or both?

@ nemmie: if i download a file which is about 60MB, can this file be uploaded while i'm downloading parts of it (like the problem i had with eMule)?

thx for ur help

Uhhhh, not too sure, I'm new to this myself. I believe Ian is right, you can only pause downloads, but you can restrict the maximum number of uploads and also the availability of files on your pc.

@ Ian - may be a daft question, but what's the point in restricing the upload - aren't you just wasting that spare capacity - what else is your bandwidth doing?

well, thats what the OP asked (kinda) also if you max out the upload it really affects your download speed, which in turn makes browsing a pain

Shareaza will let you download, but not let others upload from you

Kazaa Lite K++ has a feature which will hide shared folders from the network.
But the whole ethos of the P2P networks is that we all share files. If no-one offered uploads, there wouldn't be anything to download! If your ISP has caps in place, then find another ISP.
