I had several worldonline email addresses which I have been using on virgin for a number of years. However since virgin have introduced their anti spam filters it seems that these accounts will not download any emails.
I have other accounts which are not virgin which I have had no problems with, including an old screaming account which uses the same incoming and outgoing details which down load ok. Has any one else got a worldonline account and using virgin as their ISP and able to get their worldonline account emails to work? I tried virgin technical and they said I would have to contact the ISP who are running that email account (Tiscalli now I think) however as I have not been with them for years I don`t think this will be a good route to go. I even tried to download my mail from these accounts using mail2web with no luck. So have Tiscalli at last caught up with these email accounts and closed them.

I'm not with Virgin but have a worldonline and screaming email which still both work with my last ISP, Freeserve, and my new one, Gio, so it doesn't look as though Tiscali have scrapped the old email addresses.
I have pop.tiscali.co.uk for my wol and screaming accounts that I use in Pop Peeper and pop3.uk.worldonline.com in Outlook Express, not that I'd have thought it should make any difference - it was just that I was having trouble with OE when I set up Pop Peeper and took the server settings from the Tiscali website. The Vigin anti-spam service is not smart at all.
In my case it has blocked OUTGOING email with a message that the IP address is blacklisted - not a good move to blacklist your own dial-up customers based on something that the last user who connected on that IP address may have got up to! I have also found that regular ezine subscriptions are not arriving - who knows what other incoming email they have blocked that I wanted to receive. And to add to this I still win the Dutch Lottery and have frequent invitations to take a share of millions of USD lost in a bank account somewhere in Africa through my virgin email address. They are not blocking obvious spam. My final compaint is that they have now made it impossible for their customers to talk with them. There is no email address or telephone number on the web-site, the web- form does not work and a call to the premium-rate technical support line did not resolve what is clearly a policy or customer service problem. Big thumbs down for Virgin.net. Badly thought-out policy, poorly implemented and no opportunity to opt out or complain. mal |

Mine is the opposite way around, I have a Virgin email a/c (dating back a number of years!) and I pick up my Virgin email via my Worldonline ADSL. I've not had any problems.
