Post Aol Broadband Connection Problems

I have been trying to connect to AOL broadband and all I have had are problems problems and more problems. I installed the modem, BT voyager 105, but had problems connecting so phoned AOL who told me to uninstall the modem and then install it again. I tried to do this but when I got to the part to connect my USB cable it told me to reboot my computer and it kept telling me this every time I tried to install modem. I have phoned AOL so many times I have lost count and what's more they've started charging me for broadband and I haven't used it yet. I am going to try and uninstall my operating system and then install it again and see if this puts it right. Has anyone else had this problem and did they rectify it? I'd be gratefull if anyone could help. Thanks.

Dont use the AOL software, although it is widley known that the BT voyager modem is crap and works much better when used in conjunction with a powered USB hub.
