Question 8400 connection and AOL fail! Urgent!!!

HI, could everyone help me?

I am not sure my connection and setting is correct?

I just got AOL modem and origo-8400 modem router. I have connected origo 8400 modem to phone filter afforded by AOL company. The filter is connect to wall socket. my computer is connected to 8400 through RJ45 cable.

I can access 8400 advanced setting through IExplore (10.0.0.2). I also changed MRU and MTU to 1400 as Alnath said. (http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t12323.html) and saved and reboot. When checking my computer address it is 10.0.0.4. However I can not ping to www.yahoo.com. It means that it can not connect to internet.

Then I checking the setting of 8400. I found that there are setting in PPP. the MTU and MRu is 1492, even I have changed those two items value in WAN setting. I do not why? Also, I using diagnostic test, got messege below;

Checking LAN Connection
Testing Ethernet LAN connection PASS HELP
Checking ADSL Connection
Testing ADSL Synchronization PASS HELP
Checking Circuit 0 for Network Connection
Test ATM OAM Segment Loop Back PASS HELP
Test ATM OAM End-to-End Loop Back PASS HELP
Test Ethernet connect to ATM PASS HELP
Test PPPoPvc 0 PPPOE connection UNKNOWN HELP
Test PPPoPvc 0 PPP layer connection FAIL HELP
Test PPPoPvc 0 IP connect to PPP SKIPPED HELP
Testing Internet Connection
Ping primary DNS SKIPPED HELP
Query DNS for www.conexant.com SKIPPED HELP
Ping www.conexant.com SKIPPED HELP

you can find the there are one fail in ppp layer connection, one unknown and 4 skipped. I do not why?

Finnally, in Wan setting of 8400, there are usename and password. Is this information from AOL company? I am not sure. What is service name? I do not how to fill!

Could every one help me!!! Thanks !!1

And the password must 8 or less letters.

Try to do the settings again making sure of the save and reboot, then power cycle the router. If this doesnt work then it might need the firmware flashing.

also you cant ping anything because of the hardware firewall in the router.

I noticed that your diagnostic results mentioned PPPoE unknown. I believe AOL is ADSL service and in UK they mostly use PPPoA. check in your setting to make sure you have set up your router with the correct protocol.

the login as the others said should be your full AOL email screenname@aol.com and password 8 or less.

make sure your getting the link lights up otherwise there may be a fault with your adsl line

hope it helps

it don't make a difference, voy 100 and voy 50 both use pppoa without problem, ppl seem to be upgrading everything to pppoe which is causing no end of problems for aol(someone needs to tell them to stop updating things that work)

thats my point no need to upgrade from pppoa to pppoe except to cause problems when the update don't work
