If you sign up to TalkTalk in August you will receive evenings and weekend calls free for 12 months.
Sign up to Talk 1 - after 12 months of the free calls you then pay 5p for 70mins. Sign up to Talk 2 - after 12 months of the free calls you then pay £4.99 per month for the free calls. I'd advise to just sign for Talk 1, then after 12 months you can decide to either opt for Talk 2 or switch providers. Also use 18866 for the daytime calls. This offer is detailed in The Carphone Warehouse leaflet.

I knew Sainsbury's was provided by Talk Talk, wasn't aware Tesco was.
I was already a TalkTalk customer, but managed to get them to offer me the free calls too. The TalkTalk offers not only offer weekend calls but also evening calls for no monthy charge for 12 months. Yes One-Tel has free directory enquires, but I use directory enquires on-line free. When TalkTalk 12 months of free evening and weekend calls end, I may then switch to One Tel, (as they have been going for quite a while now). But then many friends and relatives are also on TalkTalk so all calls to them are free anytime.

Only if I recommend people via email! Which I'm not doing so on here. Though they would also get £10 free call credit on top! You can call them direct on 0800 085 5900.
I just thought as you are getting completely free evening and weekend calls for no monthly fee, it can't be a bad deal.

Wow! Seems good. But there's a snag - you have to watch the clock. If you stay on the phone for more than 70 minutes, they charge you 0.9p per minute.
By contrast, a weekend call with OneTel StandardUKTalk is free, no matter how long you stay on - provided you hang up before midnight Sunday night. And 1899.com only charge a 3p connection fee at any time. It looks like a negative option ploy. If you do sign up for Talk 2, I'd recommend you to make a note in your diary to change back to Talk 1 in July 2005. Even if you sign up with another supplier, Talk Talk are likely to carry on charging you until you tell them you want to change to a no-subscription fee tariff.

I'm a little tight when it comes to spending money I don't have too.
I was already with TalkTalk, but managed to get them to give me the free evening and weekend calls too for no charge. So I use them, 1899 and 18866. 1899 and 18866 are the same company, but 18866 only have a 1p connection charge.

I'm a little tight when it comes to spending money I don't have too. I, on the other hand, am incredibly disorganised, and have previously been a customer of Tiscali. I am therefore wary of deals that look like they might be easier to sign up for than to cancel. But apart from that ...

I had a similar problem, but the other way around. I had been with TalkTalk a few months, when I received a bill from TalkTalk saying the service is now disconnected.
I called TalkTalk to find out why, they hadn't done anything their end, phoned BT and was told 'We thought you wanted to come back!!" BT was quick enough to reconnect me to them, but had to wait 10 days to reconnect to TalkTalk, at least TalkTalk gave me another £10 credit for the hassle! I wonder if someone else has transfered you, "on your behalf" without you knowing, or BT mixed up the transfer, or have you been a Carphone Warehouse customer in the past and they have used your details from that?

Dont know what had happened, received a letter from CPW informing me that my service from CPWS was transfered to them and they welcomed me with a greeting telling me they will arrange the service to transfer from BT to them!!!.
I did buy a mobile from E2 to be connected to BT mobiles.

There's a thought. If Talk Talk give you a £10 credit for referring your friends, then someone might have fake a sign-up in your name so that they can claim a referrer credit for you.

That's how you do it
Get them all to join TalkTalk - remember, the more people who join, the better it gets - and the better it gets, the more people join. Not only that you can earn rewards for each person that you recommend. Talk Talk will then send instructions for signing up to these email addresses. Download the messages, and use them to sign up random people to Talk Talk, whose names and addresses you've pulled out of the phone book. You'll blow your cover if you try to sign up people on an NTL or Telewest line to Talk Talk - however, phone numbers for NTL and Telewest lines can be screened out by using an online ADSL availability checker. It's as simple as that!

The thing is they know who the referrer was, but it's worth trying once or twice!

There are small applications available that will extract the necessary data from a given database and feed that data to an auto form filler. They are used mainly to grab multiple ISP, mail or webspace accounts.
The whole thing is similar in esscence to a dictionary attack type program, but instead of firing passwords at a target, it's filling in forms. Fire up a revolving proxy and Robert's your mothers brother. If someone is using something like UK InfoDisk as a database, be prepared to see a lot more of this happening.

All you need to do is pick a name and number out of a phone book, or if you work for an organisation who keep a record of people names, addresses and phone number, then you would set up a free email account with Yahoo or Hotmail, using a bogus address if you wish, then you would send the recommend a friend to that email address, after a few minutes the voucher code will arrive, you then use this code and the persons details you obtained to register them.
They will never receive an email because you have signed up using one of your own bogus ones, the first they know about it is the letter from TalkTalk welcoming you, giving you you go active date, and a letter from BT saying "please don't leave us" The only problem you will encounter is because you must be a TalkTalk customer, they will have a record of your details. The other way to do it, is sign up for an associate program and click through your own advert and then register their details using your bogus email account, they won't receive £10, but you will earn your commission.
