How are you trying to update the machine?

Some people have been putting the rar file to cd or extracting the rar file but leaving it in a folder and burning to cd.

The only thing you need to burn to the cd is the extracted file , so if you viewed the cd on the computer all you would see is the file no folders no rar or zip files.

If you read this post you will see the link for the 3 hour option as posted by Mr P

liteon 5005 3 hour option

Hi Mr P. I would like to get 3 hour option on my 5005. I got it from Amazon in September. None of the update files that I've tried get recognized ( just says "file" on the machine, and opens the tray)
The last one I tried was LNFB2063.D00
It seems there are problems upgrading the later 5005's.

Hope you can help

The first video cassette recorder went on sale at Dixons in 1978 priced £798.75 - the equivalent of about £3,000 in today's money.

I have the impression that the tuner is a problem and definitions are sometimes below par.

Pleased however with my LiteOn PC DVD recorder.

Try to go for one with RAM-Disc capability. The ability to start watching something before it's finished recording or pause live tv is something that can't be underestimated. I also use mine for instant replays of good bits and removing adverts by starting to watch a film or program 20 minutes after it has started then skip past the ads. I've got a Panasonic which I picked up new off Ebay for £150 and use the RAM-Disc more than ordinary DVD-R.

FWIW:

I go Missus Mad a (now discontinued!!! about to be replaced) Sony RDRHX900 (DVD recorder with 160Gb HDD) for Christmas, and oddly I got a LiteOn 5006 DVD recorder from her
Sony in the lounge, LiteOn in the bedroom, works a treat.

The HDD is the real revelation, it's soooo easy - everything you record gets popped into a list (with the title taken from teletext) and you can scroll down and hit play even when it's recording something else. It even remembers where you are up to so you can pick up from where you stopped if you take a break. At the mo, we have 40 recordings on there that we need to catch up with sometime.

Then the emergency video (yes - sometimes we NEED to record three things) went wrong so we bought a DigiFusion FVRT150 - this is a twin DVB 80Gb (no DVD) piece of kit. This is another smart piece of kit, it can record two Freeview channels at once (whilst watching a previous recording if you wish).
(Seems to be out of stock at all Argos stores now though).

The LiteOn is now only used for four way clashes which, as you will be painfully aware, are very infrequent.

It saves all that dreary popping disks or tapes in and out and has taken lots of frustration away from those situations when we couldn't find something after our labelling system had failed yet again.

I'm sure cleverer bits of kit will be coming along soon, but you can't wait forever.

Of course, see Cranky's DigitalSpy link for many more (better informed) views.

Eb are doing an offer the above drive with 50 disks as well £294 i think why you would want disks with a hard drive unit.

My choice of hard drive medium price models seems rather restricted right now

Want DV in and out for the camcorder
S Video
+R and +RW options ( + R good for distribution for general use)
Maybe a built in VHS facility for copy over existing library - not essential though.

Philips seem to be coming out with some flexible competively priced equipment - must look at some of the reviews.

They do a new one that you can wireless network to your pc to play stuff off the pc and internet radio just a shame it cant record is only £99.00

Forget about the troubles and the costs on burning all your favorite video titles stored in the computer onto the DVD or CD discs.

With the LVD-2010 DVD NetPlayer, you now can streaming these video titles from your computer to your TV.

In addition, the powerful video processor built inside the LVD-2010 allows the capability to playback various video formats, including MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 & Xvid formats.
http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/englis...0/lvd_2010.htm

Heres code to set the LVD-2010 and LVW-2005 to region free for playing dvds from anyregion.

Remote code for multi region

Both work
