Been reading the epic "Paddling the Pacific" by Paul Theroux and reached Tonga.

Tongans did no know the world, nor did the world know them. Even their King, one of the last absolute monarchs on earth, was known only as a very fat man - his weight was given whenever his name was mentioned. This made about as much sense as regarding the British queen's small stature as important: "Five foot two inches high Queen Elizabeth, " such a sentence might begin

What to me is important is not the actual height of the Queen but whether we have a web of propaganda and image editing on the media that conceals her diminutive height.

Queen Victoria was only 5' 0" in height but you would not appreciate that from the statues and images we see of her.

On the internet most of the web pages I read so far indicate the height of Queen Elizabeth to be 5' 4"

The most authorative report seems to be one from Canadian sound engineers:-

According to Mark Radu, “Off the cuff, it may sound odd, but this information did allow us to set the podium mics at the optimum height, allowing us as much gain before feedback as possible.”

According to that information I estimate the Queen's height to be 52" minus 1" for her high heels = 4' 3" plus the distance from mouth to the top of her head. If we add a generous 8" from the mouth to the top of the head that would only make her slightly less than 5' 0" - about the same height as Queen Victoria

She's taller than my Mrs then !
