deleting files with long file names which exceed the windows limit............
This is a problem when u try to save some webpages which has long urls or a long name file under many subfolders. Hmm, le'mme remember what I did. (sometiimes just dos or safe mode don't work, still it's good to try deleting the file either in safe mode or at command prompt. The actual problem can be due to various reasons, sometime just a reboot will solve the problem of error in deleting). Other options: 1. Can u rename the file to something short like "abc". If it's not possible, try again in safe mode. then delete. Also keep pressing the shift key while deleting (for permanent deletion). Also try renaming all the folders which has access to the file to a single letter. (purpose same) 2. can u delete the folder which the file contains?? 3. can u move the folder to another location? If so, move to root of any drive, the try delete. 4. if data is corrupt, do a diskerror checking (See this link for procedure). additionally, u may want to look at this microsoft article. also Ha, I remember long long time back, facing this problem, I moved every data except that problem file from that partition to another one and formatted it. Wow, what a relief was that.
