Default Whale lobbies the Houses of Parliament

Let's hope that the care shown for one distressed whale will be reflected in action to ensure that these intelligent creatures are not hunted and killed in such an inhumane way as a source of food.

Alas things are not looking good for our unfortunate visitor.

Did you realise that in 1300 the Crown had the rights to all beached whale carcases etc?..........................

PS As I was typing this the news came through that the whale has died from convulsions.

The plight of the whale captured my heart. I really like annimals, and was saddened to hear on the news earlier, it had died! Although I didn't really expect any other kind of news concerning it. That was according to the experts, and it appears they were right.

Think logically how many whales do we have to think that there were "vets" giving advice?

When you're looking at an animal that big and it's looking back at you, you wonder what it thinks, whether it knows the effort that everyone's making for it. There were a lot of tears
We know whales communicate by songs that are transmitted over many, many miles.

We know that they are being killed by Naval sonar systems.

Wonder what sounds this whale was picking up in London. Would it hear a pile driver working near the river bank? Would it hear the rumble of underground trains transmitted through earth and water?

Could the noise levels around it have been a totally distressing cacaphony of sound?

Let's wait and see the verdict of the scientists.

It wasn't the vets I was taking notice of, on the news. It was an expert, who speacialised in this species of whale.
WL I think you could possibly be right about the cacophony of sound coming from London, causing it emense distress; It was many many miles away from it's natural habitat and these noises would have been totaly alien to it.
I will be interested to find out, just why it happened to be so close to London!
I hope this has created more awareness concerning other whales being killed, and hunted by the Japanese and also the military.
It would be a great shame that these magnifcent annimals became extinct!
Not just whales either.
I wonder if humans will rue the day, they showed scant regard for the wildlife on this planet?
