Hi,
Can I ask a few questions please, as I'm thinking of getting the 2700hgv due to its range. I am presently with Tiscali so have no access to a BT broadband service.Did you convert yours in the same situation? I have dowloaded the recovery 425 file. Is that all I need? Many thanks. |

Hi - i have a BT2700HGV that has been flashed and all works fine. I have 3 pcs connected up and they show in the device list within the router. However, i have another device that has to have a static IP address which I have set this to within the routers DHCP range, within its sub mask and through the routers IP address as gateway. I can ping this device in windows command line and it responds - but does not show in the routers device list. The unit in question is using port 1024 for the internal lan which I want to access with software on a pc. My question is how do I get this device to show up in the routers device list and how do I map port 1024 so I can access it from another pc on the network. Hope this is enough info - but please ask away if more needed either PM or on the board. Thx

I have an "old" BT 2wire 2700 HGV but the link to the unlock zip file isn't working. Is there another way I can get this file? I have searched but with no joy. Thanks

My question is how do I get this device to show up in the routers device list and how do I map port 1024 so I can access it from another pc on the network. Reserved DHCP LAN addresses do, but you can only do this with the newer BT firmwares. You should not need to explicitly open ports for access from another PC on the same LAN/network. They should have free access. |

Hi jonnyreb51,
I don't know what the zip file was called but from one of your earlier postings it said this: "Finally but MOST imporantly, here is the NEW unlocked firmware, which you upload in order to flash the router with it's new super-powers . This is a ZIPPED file, so for goodness sake UNZIP it so that you are left with a folder containing a file named "recovery_425.2sp". This is the file you wanna flash the 2700HGV with!" Perhaps this helps!! |

Hiya.
That file has been posted in this thread, 2 - 3 times. ![]() This link does work, because I tried it earlier after reading your post and assumed this to be the zip file in question. The download in the following link is about halfway down the page. The use of any files mentioned in this thread are done so at your own risk as stated in the first post here. http://www.sendspace.com/file/j8deet

Ydrol thanks for your reply. My router is on firmware 5.29.107.19 and is one of the newer ones - rather than as I thought a flashed one. I have pointed the software at the IP address for the device but get nothing. How do I configure reserved DHCP addresses as the supplier of this unit says the software picks it up from the routers device list. The router is saying I have the most up to date firmware so just need to know where in the extensive menu to go to do this. Help appreciated.

Hi, Set your target PC on DHCP then on the router, go to Local Network Advanced Settings -> Edit Address Allocation and select the required address ('Private Fixed') from the pulldown menu.

My 2700HGV uses v4.25.27 bt firmware with DNS poisoning. One of my devices is set up with a static IP address and it DOES appear in the Device List. The IP address I used is Outside of the DHCP range. ie. 192.168.1.55 hope this helps. |

Interesting, if you clear the device list (MDC->Resets) does it re-appear?

Hi thanks guys for the help. I have tried the IP within the DHCP range and outside it and does not join the device list. I also did the list reset and it did not appear. Which ever IP i give it in the units menu though I can ping it on the network at that IP address and it responds from the run/command/ping prompt in xp. According to the instructions for the unit I am to point the bundled software to the ip it has been assigned and it should allow me to access the content. When pointing the software at the unit I have to specify the IP address, gateway [ router IP address ] and a port number? - together with the password which i have. This is what the instructions say which indicate I should open a port even for LAN viewing:
Set up the DVR Make the IP address of the DVR match the range of your existing network. To do this go into the DVR menu and into network and set the IP address. Make sure you give the DVR a free IP address on your network. Set the gateway address to your router’s IP address and make the web port 80 or any free port on your internet connection (we recommend 80 if it is free) Press enter on the DVR and then press menu twice or three times until you are back at the live view. Set up the Router Make the IP address of your ADSL router match into your network and then go into the port forwarding setup and forward port 80 (or whichever web port you have given to the DVR) to the IP address you have given the DVR. Viewing over a LAN To view over the LAN you must install the Video Server S software that comes on the disc with the DVR onto your local PC. Once you have installed the program run it by double clicking the icon on your desktop. Put the Local IP address of the DVR into Server IP, enter the username and password (both admin by default), make the web port to whatever it was set to (default 80) and click OK to log in. you can now control the DVR through your LAN. Any thoughts welcome |

If you are only communicating between devices on your LAN, and the IP is statically assigned, then you dont need to involve the router to open ports.
Otherwise if you are communicating from WAN to LAN *OR* you want to use a reserved DHCP Address (like static but set at the router) then do as I mentioned previously: ie Set your target PC on DHCP then on the router, go to Local Network Advanced Settings -> Edit Address Allocation and select the required address ('Private Fixed') from the pulldown menu. If the software picks it up from the routers device list, (that sounds like a bit of a vague description from the software vendor, maybe it's doing a port scan on its local gateway??), in which case, do the bit in blue first, then you can add a 'Web Server' firewall rule to that device. Ydrol thanks. The problem i'm having is that the DVR [ its not a pc ] has no option to obtain an IP address dynamically. This means I have to assign it an IP in its set up menu on the DVR and then find a way of assigning that IP in the router to it so they can talk. As it does not show in the router Device list and so not available to assign a fixed IP address in "Edit Address Allocation" to it -would seem to be the prob. I guess I'm after is there a way of assigning an IP address in the router to a device that does not show up in the device list. Or another way to get the router to assign it. In "Edit Address Allocation" I can assign a fixed IP address but only to another device that the router has detected - not this DVR which is not listed? Given that I can ping it - it is transmitting on the network on the IP I have input into the DVR's set up menu, but the router does not show it? Not sure how to proceed.

Echoeone, this is spooky man.
I just came back this min from a job where I was trying to get a Swann DVR to work with this 2700 modem/router.I did a Google to find out how to access this unit over the internet and came upon this thread. As you see I am already a screamer and to come across someone with a similar problem to mine a few mins after posting is very spooky. I have many DVR's on the internet but this is the first time I have come across the 2700. Can you access your DVR over the LAN - is it just from the WAN you can't? All my working DVR's use various ports eg 50000, 6100 5000 and 80. The 80 one was the only one to give me trouble. The system I have just left was set with an IP of 192.168.10 4 allowed port forwarding on ports 5000 - 5002. If there is a DMZ in this 2700 put your IP in there and see how you get on, although it leaves it open to hackers etc. I have had no trouble ( eventually) getting DVR on WAN using Netgear stuff. Hope this helps. Anyone know how to access the 2700 remotely over the net? Cheers JT

What kind of unlock do people talking here?
I had managed to unlock this router by changing the keycode. Is this was people saying here? If yes, then gotot the www.2wire.com/keycode look at the bottom page where it say manually setup ISP. In the page it allow you re-enter new keycode to unlock the BT setup. Do use the system setup wizard from the home page. I managed changed the BT setting for my Zen internet ISP. HOpe this help |

What version firmware is your Hub? And sorry to ask again, but this is a Static - no dhcp whatsoever connection with IP set directly on the interface itself? Any firewall rules against that device?

After a bit of investigation, in line with what others have already observed, it looks like the wireless output cannot be changed (certainly above level 4) when using the latest 5.x BT firmwares.
All the right messages appear in the logs but the signal power or quality doesn't change. This was tested using my 006 'older' model, running a 5.x firmware - with 2 ssids. So it's not a hardware lock. Pretty much buried deep in the firmware, (and not just a GUI thing). |

I've just installed bt-2700hgv_reinstall_voice_adsl.5-29-107.2sp (upgrading from 4.25.19), used the manual setup code as suggested, set up a different SIP partner on http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J62 and hey presto, connected to my ISP, have VOIP working (version 4.25.19 although lets you set it up, the firmware doesn't work). Just a tweak on the wireless strength and I guess I'll have all the options this thing was designed to allow. |

VOIP diesnt work with SBC firmware. You can install the BT 5..107.. firmware. Some people have reported this is less stable on their line but I've had no problems.

For DVR People. I cleared my device list and set a static IP.
The hub picked it up in the device list AND firewall rules as 'Unknown: <mac address>' Which is all you need to start creating your firewall rules. I'm using the BT 5*107* firmware. Now it does take a few seconds to pick it up. I suspect you may have to create traffic from the DVR to the Hub. eg can you run some kind of ping test from the DVR to the Hub? Until the hub receives some packets with that IP address and MAC, it wont know of it's existence. I was using a windows laptop which is probably always running some crap that's trying to communicate with the outside world ![]() The Static IP address was picked up regardless of whether I created it inside or outside of the DHCP range. I haven't got the SBC firmware loaded. |

ok cheerz for that
So will i not be able to add the DVR to the device lists without pinging from DVR to router ??? If this is the case then i wont be able to set up firewall rules to port forward to dvr?? I am thinkin of given it another try tommorow but now i might wait till end of week!!lol cheerz ste |

When the ethernet cable was connected to router and dvr there was light on dvr (net)
ALSO the dvr i installed had an automatic dhcp on network page when i powered up without ethernet it gave me an ip address no where near router and a gateway same as the ip BUT when i connected to ethernet then powered up dvr in the network page on dvr it looked like it did it all automically as it gave me an ip within router range and a gateway of the routers IP....?....BUT when i went into router from pc there was no dvr on the device list so cannot change the firewall rule and port forward??? I also could not connect dvr through local network either??? I am goin back there on friday to hopefully sort it out does anybody know a tech support number for this BT 2wire 2700HGV router incase i still have problems cheerz stevieG |
