Slow internet speeds driving me nuts

I had been enjoying my aol gold connection up until 30/10/2006. A few days prior to this I had notification that my exchange box was being updated (no clue what that means). Now, since this date ive had a terrible connection often waiting minutes for pages to load, as an avid online gamer this is driving me nuts, I cant join in with my friends and that was a big reason I got the broadband.

Ive included a tracert, will happilly add in more if requested. Im using a adsl bt voyager 105 on a 2.2meg line.

I can only assume its something at the exchange, but ive been in contact with bt 3 times - line is fine, and AOL tech support more times then id like to mention and neither has a solution, any ideas peeps?

Have wiped my PC twice in an attempt to get it fixed.
Have tested the voyager 105 on both of my PCs.
Have tried different filters.
Went and brought another modem BT Voyager 2110, gives worse results in that it brings up "Can not display page" frequently as well as the slowness.

Have tested my speed on adslguide, internetfrog,and speedtester.bt.com.

The bt one doesnt give me any results at all for my line, although it used to, i just get a test error come up( something about cant find my details and to contact my isp).

My speeds can change by quite alot, sometimes fast and sometimes slow for the most part they are very slow, with downstream rates of 40-150 bts from both the aforementioned speed testers. of course occasionaly this will shoot up to 1.5meg for no apparent reason, doesnt happen during peak hours but during the day i can for maybe 5 minutes get a decent connection before it drops back to being slow.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Some additional info, my connection speeds were much faster last night(1am-2am), but even so the tracert still times out on the second hop, could this be the reason for my issues?

Connection speed was fine, i just dont get results like this very often.
