Does anyone actually have a 2500V that they use on BT Broadband Voice (or whatever they call it these days)?
Can you download the settings from the 2500V using the backup option from the web interface, and then post the <Voice> bit of the XML from the backup file, so we can see what's going on in a working setup?

Many thanks in advance

I have a working unlocked 2500V using BT Broadband Talk.

I have looked at the Voice section of the XML file and it just consists of Port Information - Login Details/Password - Telephone Number and a few others.

Most of it is encrypted and is viewable as 'XXXXXXX' only

Not much to be learned from this

Can I have a look anyway? I'm trying to set up the VOIP to use my PlusNet voip service, but I just can't figure out what some of the parameters are supposed to be...
Feel free to 9999 out the phone numbers...

Many thanks!

Hi, kingkev.

Welcome to The Scream!

It may be asking for the Router login details, not your ISP login details.

The default Username and Password for the 2500v is admin for both, note it is all lower case.

Whether these details have changed with the new firmware, I am not sure, maybe someone who has unlocked the Router can verify the login details.

Yes, those are the details. I can't remember if the admin username needs a capital A. I may be getting confused with my old router...

Anyone else with a 2500V that they use on BT Broadband Voice?
Could you download the settings from the web interface, so we can see what's going on in a working setup?

vstar, I'm also trying to get the 2500v to work with plusnet. Have you tried flashing the 2500v with the Dynalink RTA1046 firmware which is suposed to be the same as the 2500v ? The user manual for the RTA1046 firmware shows all the settings for the VOIP but I'm not sure if I should try flashing it. Anyone else tried it ?

Unhappy Re: unlocking BT Voyager 2500v

Yep, I've been running the Dynalink software for a few months. It works fine, better that the BT firmware which crashed every month or so - the 2500 needed rebooting...

However, for getting PlusNet going I've spent hours on it and it just doesn't work...

I can use Ekiga (I use Ubuntu Linux not Windows) and connect to PN just fine from a PC (through the 2500), but the router just won't connect...

There also seems to be a problem entering the password into the web interface, it just gets screwed up. I resorted to using the backup/restore commands to dump an .xml file of the parameters, amend those and then restore the file. However the parameters are stored using some kind of encoding, so I entered the password into the routers user password screen, and then used the encoded version in the .xml file, you'll know what I mean if you play with it...

Net result - I think there is some kind of compatibility problem between PN and the 2500. I read something something somewhere else the it may be STUN related, but if Ekiga works then I'm not so sure.

V. thanks for the reply. I'll try the Dynalink software now that I know it will work with the 2500v. I'll have a look at the voip but from what you said i'm probably wasting my time.

Cheers

The Dynalink software is fine. As the VOIP have a good crack at it... The more people that play with it, the more likely it is that the problem will be solved.

If you need an help/advice/sympathy - I'll be here!

@ all with a 2500v, following on from another thread i made @ http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t25817.html?

i'm looking for a decent voip router, similar in functionality to the speedtouch 780wl. mainly i need *working* incoming caller id via *pstn*, and some way to check a log (via telnet) of the current number of outgoing calls on pstn. also a current time command would be good.

is the 2500v up to this? assuming it's flashed to the 1046vw firmware (or not...). you lot seem to be having trouble with voip, what kinda trouble is it? actually physically not working or just can't figure out the cli commands / correct web options to change things? and if it is working, does it log outgoing calls at all? a page for this on the web config would be pretty telling, though commans to access said log through telnet would be even better...

and is incoming pstn caller id shown ok? lots of comments at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/745729.html suggesting not, but that's on the dynalink firmware (usual problem of pstn calls not handed over to fxo before caller id lost). maybe the bt firmware fixes this...

i'd also need to run it on a seperate isp (be*) with seperate voip provider (voipcheap.com), so i dunno if i need an unlocked or non bt firmware for this.

thanks.

Take a look here if you want to get VOIP working for Freespeech and Vonage etc on the BT Voyager 2500V. There's a new series of articles about it on http://www.puzbie.co.uk

This is the start of the VOIP stuff:

http://www.puzbie.co.uk/php/home1024.php?page=2500v1

Not sure what logging options there are, but looking on the advanced VOIP setup article there does seem to be a page on the web admin which deals with that.

They use the BT Club firmware, which is not ISP locked.

Does the VOIP functionality work with BT when the Voyager 2500v is unlocked?
I am with BT but can't get hold of a 2500v, the only one's I can get are already unlocked.

Thanks

Hi, follow the link I posted in #45 above. That will explain all you need to do about getting VOIP working for multiple VOIP providers with the 2500V.

Oh ok, here it is again:

http://www.puzbie.co.uk/php/home1024.php?page=2500v1

Sorry if this is spamming...

I have tried the recent dynalink firmware cfe-rta1046vw_sip_au-v363u_a2pb0
All works except for VOIP . you can't enter voip setting . you get a message : SIP not started completely . also Telnet voice command will work but still won't start the voip

why dont you try
sip_provider=:username@freespeech.co.uk
sip_proxy:=username@freespeech.co.uk

if you look at the voip registration you will have notices that there are to sip statments and beath need filling in to activate the voip facility possable change the @ symbol to a dot.
Hope that this enlightens you.

But does this config file (using Freespeech) actually work?
Also, which firmware are you using if it does work?

Cheers,
