We the undersigned, understand that we get what we pay for

If they don't oversubscribe it will cost 3 times as much, and if they dont throttle at the ingress the routers will randomly drop packets throughout the network with unpredictable results.

But good luck with this petition.

if you hate traffic shaping, sign up to an ISP that doesnt throttle.

I am trying to get out of my Virgin broadband contract but they wont let me, even though I am not getting the speeds I agreed to. Also I think if you sign a contract then the price should not go up during that 12 months. Now we have zero inflation yet Virgin spent a packet printing glossy flyers to tell me my speed was being "upgraded" soon from 2mb to 10mb. Great, until you read a separate letter informing you that it is going up £2 a month. I originally signed for a 2mb unlimited download contract, subsidised by me switching my phoneline over to them. It turns out that if you use 500mb....yes...just half a gigabyte....your service is capped (or "managed" as they describe it!) for 24 hours without warning.
I was accused of clogging-up the network for everyone in my neighbourhood!!! What...half a gigabyte on a 2mb fibre-optic line...when they sell a 50mb package as well....good grief they think we are all stupid. I wonder how many people are unaware of this. Test your broadband speeds people! You are paying the full price for less than half the agreed bandwidth, or even a tenth of the agreed bandwidth on a 10mb contract. If this was gas, electric, water, food.... then people would be up in arms...so why not with broadband?
With a wifi router and 4 kids the service is virtually unusable when being capped...just about all you can do is email...not download or stream video...certainly not voip/skype....so you have to use the virgin landline instead....how can all this be legal???

you say that virgin upgraded your speed from 2-10mbits,and also changed the amount payable each month too,if they changed the price then they should of given you the chance to quit or except the new offer,my isp did this when the vat was reduced as it constitutes a change of service like starting a new 12mths contract again you should of been given a set time to cancel without penalty too

anyone living in a rural location (more than 1mile from telephone exchange , old style telephone line) should sign this petition .

i strongly recomend you do a broadband speed test asap . & you will be horrified.
i am paying for "upto" 8mb/sec download speed . on a good day i am lucky if i get 400kb/sec . & for this wonderful service i pay £280 per year.
(my upload speed is approx 240kb/sec)

i have looked at other isp's , all offer fantastic deals until i actually speak to their advisors , at which point because of my postcode either the advertised deal is unavailable to me or the price changes to a higher one. When i ask about speeds i am informed that although i will be paying for "upto" 8mb/16mb a second download speeds.... until BT inproves the infastructure , the best i will get is 500kb per sec.

It's not like i live on the moon , i live in a small rural villiage 5miles outside of londons M25 motorway.

if it was "UPTO" me i would lock up the isp providers / the telecoms watchdog & throw away the key .. this situation is absolutely criminal in a country that is supposed to be one of the 5th largest economys & most advanced society's in the world .

i pay £280 per year - that is your mistake,. pay less get less,.

you are paying for a train season ticket when actually you have to catch the bus due to where you live

if you must have a faster service then perhaps organise something yourself with a wireless network and get some of the village ppl involved
