never wanna hear the word tiscali again
After being with tiscali for a number of years i decided it was time to shop around for a better deal.
We were moving house at the time so i thought this would be the best time to do it, so i could just cancel and start again with someone else at my new property.
what a load of hassle i had.
20th March 2009 i called Tiscali customer services to cancel
I was put through to the cancellation team at Tiscali customer services, where i was told by a very rude man that my husband should not be involved with which service provider i go with as it was only my name on the bill, and that i should stay with them.
After telling him to mind his own business and that i still wanted to cancel i was put on hold for what seemed like an eternaty.
i was then advised that they would send me a MAC code that i should pass on to my new services provider when i had moved house.
i asked what would happen about the direct debit that i had been paying.
he told me that as the whole process took a couple of week that i would have to wait for the following months payment to come out, as soon as that had come out i could cancel the direct debit mandate with the bank.
sure enough within a couple of week the MAC code came through and i waited for the last payment to come out of my bank the following month, which it did on the 15th April, so i cancelled the direct debit.
we had already moved house at this stage so the telephone line etc had all been cancelled at our previous address and we had set up our internet with our new services provider.
i then recieved a letter from Tiscali advising that i still owed them £15 and as my DD had been cancelled they were unable to collect the funds from my account, so i called them to advised that i had already cancelled the service with them.
i was told time and time again that they had no record of this and the whole process would need to start again, when i expalin that they had even sent me a MAC code, they said that was because a had called them to upgrade my system, i told them to stop talking rubbish and to put me through to the team leader or manager of that section.
put on hold again............................................. .........................
i then had to explain the whole story again and strangley enough there records had suddenly updated and they did have a record of my cancellation but i would still have to pay a cancellation fee. after bascially telling them to get stuff as i wasnt advised about a cancellation fee i was advised that my account was clear and there were no more funds owing as my account was now closed.
about 2-3 weeks later i recieved a recorded message on my phone to say that i should contact tiscali immediately.
on calling them and having to go through the same story again they again said they had no record of my previous calls, i gave them the name of the person that i had spoken to but this didnt help. they then adivsed that i would need to send proof of my new service provider and proof of my new address, although i was a little reluctant to do this, as it was only £15 we were talking about (but it was the principle of the matter) i sent it recorded delivery also with a letter advising them of all the problems i was having.
i didnt hear from them for at least another two week, when i was abroad on holiday, they called me on my mobile asking when i was going to pay the outstandng balance of £17.04, on returning home i called them to advise that i had written to them explaining all the problem that i had been having along with proof of my new service provider, and enquired as to why the balance had gone up,they couldnt answer my question.
they also said that they had not recieved my letter, but then about 20 minutes into the conversation they quotated a line from the letter that i had sent with the set up date from my new service provider, when i said ' i thought you hadnt recieved my letter' the line when dead. THEY HAD CUT ME OFF.
i had to call back, and yes explain the whole situation again.
by this time my husband was fumming and said that although we shouldnt pay this balance out of principle, we have probably wasted that much money and more on phone calls, and to just pay it to get rid of them.
so this is what i suggested to the adviser, and stated that this was the last that i wanted to hear from them, i couldnt believe she then had the cheek to say that this probably would nt be the end of the situation as her records show that i had only cancelled my service with them 3 week previous to the call that i was making them now.
i went mental, and after ranting and raving n to her for 5 minutes, all of a sudden she found records of my previous calls.
she said that after this payment everything would be cancelled and i would hear no more from them.
i made the payment 2 weeks ago..........
today 1st july 2009 i had a text message left on my phone to say that i should urgentley call a number quoting a reference.
thinking it could be a hoax i waited to use a landline before calling it.
i quotated the reference that i had been givn, only to discover that Tiscali forwarded my details to a debt collecting agency. i explian to the woman all the problem that i had been having and that i had reluctantly paid the outstanding balance, therefore this should bring a closure to the situation.
i also asked if this would blacked my name for future credit, she could realy advise, but said i dont think so.
so believe me if you know whats good for you DONT USE TIACALI
