There may be a court case later this year in Germany.

We are not interested in any further investigation. Most of us are on holiday or engaged in other stories. This is what we know about Telco AG:
Telco AG may be related to Mobilkom Liechtenstein, an Austrian based company. The operations of Telco AG are probably run from Vienna, Austria. When Telco AG was investigated initially there has been the assumption that there are East Europeans involved. Telco AG was hit by a reduction of the fees for special Liechtenstein numbers in 2008. Such numbers have been used for scams regularly. According to Liechtenstein media Telco AG stopped doing business in Liechtenstein (source: google, in German). It remains unclear if there was a change in the ownership. We doubt, because the names related to Telco AG are constant and names related to Telco AG appear related to Mobilkom. We have no possibility to check the Liechtenstein company register. There was a change in June 2009 which may be interesting. Sorry that we cannot give you any further information.

Market share of BSNL, MTNL witnesses downfall

Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced that the market share of state owned telecom biggies Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) had decreased.

According to agency sources, while landline connections of BSNL and MTNL command a market share of 78.82% and 9.32% respectively, the mobile connections of both the Public Sector Undertaking stand at 14.14%(BSNL) and 1.28% (MTNL) respectively.

Thus the combined landline connections of these two PSU`s stand at 88.14% while the mobile connections stand at 15.42% .

Sources disclosed that the market share of MTNL and BSNL had decreased due to the surrendering of excess landline phones and preference for mobile phones and customer`s preference for mobile and landline phones from different service providers.

In case of MTNL, to be precise sources said that there were capacity constraints in its GSM mobile network due to non-commissioning of 75,000 million lines each in Delhi and Mumbai by the vendors. Sources also added that during the past two years, sufficient capacity in GSM mobile equipment was sub-judiced and there was delay in supply of equipments.

Presenting the Budget, Mukherjee announced additional allocation of Rs 39,100 crore for NREGS for 2009-10, adding that the government was committed to provide Rs 100 a day as wages under the scheme. “We are committed to providing a real wage of Rs 100 a day as an entitlement under NREGA,” Mukherjee said.

NREGA provided employment opportunities to more than 4.4 crore households in 2008-09. At the national level, average wage paid under NREGA has increased from Rs 65 in 2006-07 to Rs 84 in 2008-2009 (provisional).

In October 2006 Ofcom expanded the scope of this investigation to incorporate Switch Call, given that Switch Services is a 97% owned subsidiary of Switch Call.

Ofcom has now completed its investigation and issued a notification to Switch Call under section 94 of the Act.

Ofcom’s investigation found that there were reasonable grounds for believing that Switch Call has contravened, and is contravening, General Condition 17.8 of the General Conditions of Entitlement. Specifically, Switch Call has failed to take all reasonably practicable steps to secure that its customers comply with the provisions of General Condition 17 and the National Telephone Numbering Plan (“the Plan”) with regard to 070 numbers.

Switch Call is now required to provide a compliance plan to Ofcom, detailing the steps that Switch Call intends to take to comply with General Condition 17 and to remedy this contravention. Ofcom’s notification requires that the compliance plan must set out “reasonable and realistic” deadlines by which Switch Call will carry out these steps.

Switch Call has until 24 April 2007 to comply with Ofcom’s notification and to make representations to Ofcom.

If Switch Call does not comply, Ofcom will consider whether further enforcement action, including imposing a penalty, is appropriate.

Unsolicited text messages promised nonexistent prizes

Six companies have been fined nearly half a million pounds by premium-rate services watchdog the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services (Icstis) after sending unsolicited 'spam and scam' text messages designed to make consumers call premium-rate numbers.

The six overseas-based companies, Vertical Media Ltd, Fast Way Holdings Ltd, Litmus Ltd, Indiano Communications, Greenbay Ltd and Quartel Ltd, were fined £75,000 each for breaching the Icstis Code of Practice. The regulator has also banned the companies from operating in the UK.

The accused companies sent text messages and made unsolicited phone calls using automated calling equipment which would ring once to leave 'missed calls' on mobile phones.

The aim was to entice people into calling premium-rate numbers costing up to £1.50 per minute to claim prizes.

According to Icstis the prizes either did not exist or were much less than what was promised. For example, a large cash prize would be offered but, at best, would turn out to be holiday vouchers with very restrictive clauses.

Icstis criticised four network operators, Intelliplus Group, Redstone Communications, Switch Call and Ventelo, for allowing the companies to rent lines.

"This was a serious problem and involves a lot of money. We had some agreement with most network operators last year to end this. So we are disappointed, because we feel these network operators have not acted as we expected," an Icstis spokesman told vnunet.com.

The six fined companies have appointed another UK company, Smile Telecom based in Bury, to act as their agent. Smile Telecom has been asked by Icstis to refund customers of the six companies.

But according to Icstis the company has refused to do this unless requested to do so by its six clients.

This is a total fake message. When I called back to this number 43820893324, I listened one computerized voice and asking me for my mobile number and age. After that she was trying to connect to one of the representatives of their company. But after some time it was disconnected from their side.
Now when I saw my postpad bill, It was showing me around 3,000 rs of outstanding balance which i had to pay to my Idea service.
Don't call in this number please. They are totally fake. The company name is PriceLine.

Unwanted phone calls to end by 15 November, says TRAI chief news

Mobile phone users who have been complaining ad nauseam about unwanted marketing calls have been extended fresh hope of relief, as Telecom Authority of India chairman H S Sharma on Sunday held out a deadline of 15 November for regulation to end such unsolicited calls.

"We have finished the entire process of consultations. We are in the process of finalising the regulation for unsolicited calls and messaging. We wanted to do it by the end of October but there is slight delay. We may be out with regulation before 15 November," Sharma told media persons on the sidelines of a book release function in New Delhi.

He said the contents of the proposed regulation could not be disclosed at this moment, but it would "solve" the problem. He added that the telecom regulator has been testing the technicalities of the proposed regulation in some telecom circles.

The Department of Telecommunications had to face embarrassment when finance minister Pranab Mukherjee got an unsolicited call from a telemarketing company earlier this month.

we will see if H S Sharma TRAI is a person of his word or yet another bullshit Regulator

This numbering range 389 77 148 xxx should be out of use now, and shall not be accessible from out of Macedonia, as of 21 October 2010.
There are still posts on whocallsme.com regarding this numbers and recent activities but they are misusing other number range to be called.

Please, if there are any usage of this number range after this dates, please send me information's igor.angelovski (<at>) aec.mk

Please ask ITU for a statement about the abuse of international numbers in general. What about Macedonia being a state that shows the lazy "Old Europe" how to handle such abuse?

I would make a nice story about it

By the way: Do you see any legal use of "regular" macedonian numbers for billing purposes ("disguised IPRN")?
If not: What steps will be taken against companies offering such services? If you need any assistance in identifying such companies, feel free to ask here.
