Police search for 11,000 in identity scam
09 Jun 2012

Judge David Higgins said the gang, who ran the site from Alicante in Spain while others in the UK monitored the website and produced false documents, had undertaken identity theft on an "industrial scale".
Jason Place, 42, Mark Powell-Richards, 59, Michael Daly, 68, Allen Stringer, 57, Jaipal Singh, 31, and Arun Thear, 22, were arrested after undercover reporters bought a fake driving licence in the name of former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

Mr Daly pocketed more than £107,000 for his role, while Mr Stringer raked in £60,000, and Mr Singh saw £25,000 pass through his account.

Jaipal Singh, 31, a telecoms company director from Wednesbury, West Midlands, was sentenced to 18 months for conspiracy to defraud
In 2008 people were posting complaints on this forum concerning being billed for unsolicited premium rate text.
I posted information showing that the above criminal was behind those complaints and was connected to a number of companies that had been previously fined by PhonepayPlus.
The information was mostly obtained from the PhonepayPlus adjudications.

There was nothing to complicated or contentious that a person of average intelligence couldn't cope with.

my posts warning of the ongoing fraud were removed and the misleading posts from the fraudster were left.

Good bit of investigating

We provide outsourced call handling for companies running SMS campaigns. We unfortunately have no control over content, services or regulatory issues. All we do is deal with queries and more often that not, irate customers!!

Technical problems do arise and on the flip side I have seen some companies we've worked with attempt to rip people off. I can go on record and say that in these instances I have been the first person to contact PPP and the powers that be and report any such matters.

Any queries, keep them coming!

Josh
Just as an aside, it is important to note the difference between network provider, service provider and information provider - confusion will lead you to understand that JJ Trading were at fault whereas JJ Trading provided the send mechanism to another 3rd party information provider (who ultimately got fined! )

Tanla sold the shortcode number to Hot Chilli who in turn sold the shortcode number to JJ Trading who in turn has sold the number to Mr Hussein.

what a predictable prat

I monitored this latest post and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I can only assume the person on the Moneysavingexpert forum that is continually removing these posts is doing so out of petty vindictiveness or to make up for something they have lacking in the rest of their life. It's possible that that forum is their life which would be rather sad.

With this type of 'moderator', the 'trolling', abusive posters and **** poor advice the Moneysavingexpert forum is best to stay clear of.

I totally agree with everything you have said about moneysaving expert forums. I think the reason for the problem is that there is a strong military presence in the forum. The military even has its own section in the forum. Wherever you get the authorities mixing with ordinary people, most of whom do not even know they are there!, you will find this kind of thing occurring.
