Dell
A friend of mine has just taken delivery of a dell dimension PC and on setting it up found that the supplied printer will not work! PC is running XP O/S and a lexmark Z33 printer. he tried installing the supplied driver but m/c will not accept it. Could this be a problem with microsoft XP or would it be something simple like the driver just needs updating? I did advise that his first action should be contacting DELL as in my eyes they should really be supplying a M/C that just needs to be switched on.

My money is on the printer driver, try downloading the Win XP driver for that printer :

The problem has been sorted out! my friend had to call Lexmark and was told that he had the correct driver! but the girl went through it all and betwen them set it all up "manualy" (but still think we were on the right tracks with driver being at fault).
Thanx ian for taking the time to reply and confirming my suspicions.
