Default Tinto Brass Uncut Films!

Hi!
Mrs Beef & I are Tinto Brass film fans We want to purchase some of his films on DVD, but all the Uk online Dvd Sellers seem to only sell the censored ones. If any of you have seen some of his films you'll know that this isn't hard-core porn.
Anyway I found a website in the USA that sells the Uncut versions, (No its not a porn site ) but was wanting to know if there are any online Dvd outlets that sell uncut versions here.
The website in the USA seems reputable enough, but it warns that overseas customs may confiscate if its deemed to be illegal in the country its recieved in. I don't want to spend my money and then a few weeks later find the Dvd's haven't come due to the customs guy confiscating it. Even though I don't think they would.
Also has anyone else had Dvd's bought online from another country and had them confiscated?

Cheers
Beef.

P.S. I hate using the word movie it's soooooo american

Thanks folkes!
It seems they have a certificate, so it could mean they have been "edited"
I'll email them and see what they say.
Thanks again.

After looking at the British Board Of Film Classification I found that these films haven't been cut at all. Now I can order here from DVD suppliers I know are good and not have to worry about customs men grabbing them.
BTW the bbfc website is quite informative.

Thanks Again.

Default BBFC

Hi. Well, I too just looked at the British Board of Film Classification site, and it's not so clear as one would hope. It indicates how much footage the BBFC demanded cut from a film, not how much footage had already been cut before it was submitted to the BBFC. For instance, take a look at "Salon Kitty." The older version, 129 minutes 7 seconds, as released at UK cinemas in 1977, had already been cut in Italy, by four minutes, prior to being sent to the UK. The BBFC simply indicates "Yes" in the "Cut" column. Later there is a second listing for "Salon Kitty," at 112 minutes 29 seconds (at 25fps PAL speed), which indicates that no cuts were made. Let me assure you that it is cut to ribbons! Oddly, though, it contains three lines of dialogue that were allegedly destroyed in 1976 prior to any public screening, and that never appeared in any previous releases. I'd love to know how that happened.

Another for-instance is "PO Box Tinto Brass," which is most definitely cut (or rather re-edited). But the cutting was done prior to the film's submission to the BBFC, which is why no cuts are indicated.

Finally there is "The Key." The cinema release at 109 minutes 4 seconds was cut, as per BBFC demands, by 38 seconds. This version was later issued on VHS at least three times. But something else is amiss: Some of the subtitles were deliberately mistranslated to avoid confrontations with the censor. "Viva la mona!" does NOT mean "Long live Mona!" And at the end, the Catholic priest does not complain about Nino that "Besides, he was a Protestant." On the contrary, he states: "Besides, he wasn't even a Protestant. He was an ATHEIST!" Oddly, the later DVD and VHS release, which is given two different running times (shorter because of the PAL transfer speed of 25fps), is actually complete, though improperly cropped at 1.85:1 despite being shot and composed for 1.66:1. But this time the distributor thought of a different way around the sensitive subtitles: Just don't subtitle the Italian scenes at all. So the viewer is left completely in the dark.

I just got the Arrow DVD of "Black Angel" last night and spot checked it. The only scene I thought was censorable was not censored at all. So it seems to be complete. Hooray! (But again wrongly cropped at 1.85:1, as was the Italian DVD. Even the closing credits clearly indicate that it should be run at 1.66:1. Oy vay!)

The Italian video releases, except for "Salon Kitty," seem to be complete. You might try shop.videopark.it or www.kultvideo.com for the real uncut versions.

I try, as best I can, to indicate the cuts in my own web site at www.geocities.com/busterktn
