Hi all,
My Brother-in-law has got a problem after installing a speedtouch 330 usb modem. All is well two solid green lights etc, the problem arises when you click on the connection icon all he gets is "Application Error""could not create entry["+ speedtouch connection +']. I asked him to have a look in the network connection settings (under control panel) and the modem is not shown. Only thing I can think of is a driver upgrade so going to make a disc for him now. But if anyone could offer further advice in the meantime I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance, shred. OS is Windows Xp home edition. |

Uninstall the drivers and unplug the modem from the USB port.
Rebbot and reinstall the drivers. Only plug in the modem when told to do so.

Cheers ZerO.
I've been round and done that and Brother-in-law assured me that he didn't plug the frog in untill he had installed the modem software/drivers and the setup process told him to. I've installed dozens of these and only ever had a problem with Windows ME freezing on boot up. A newer driver fixed that problem, hoping it'll do the same for this one. shred. |

Hello Shred,
I saw your problem that you had with the speedtouch 330 modem at your-brother-in law. Did you manage to solve that problem? I live in the netherlands and have the same problem as you described. I have a speedtouch 330 modem and windows XP. Everything looks ok, installation went fine, both lights are burning green but when i press connect nothing happens. I tried to install this on three different machines (desktop with XP, laptop with XP and a desktop with windows 98) but none of them worked. I'm very curious. Do you know the solution for this problem? Regards, |

Hi kolakol, welcome to TS.
My solution is indicated in my third post on this thread. I very much doubt this is your problem though. Have you tried opening IE>Tools>Internet Options>Connections and making sure that your Broadband ISP is the default connection. Failing this try installing a driver update on this page. |

I'd give your ISP a ring if I were you. Hope you don't have Tesco BB over there.

Hi Shred,
I have Wanadoo as internetprovider but that is the biggest mistake i made in my life. The don't listen to their customers and they do not provide service of any kind. For exampe: When you call there helpdesk it will take at least 45 minutes before you get someone on the line, and when you reach someone they don't know anything. It was/is a very wrong choice. Very fustrating. It used the link you posted but unfortunally after installing the upgrade it didn't work again. Too bad. I'm out of options. Did it work at you brother in law? Regards, |

Hi kolakol,
Had the same probs with the Speedtouch 330 usb modem & XP. The usb modem was conflicting with something (never found what) but I replaced it with a Speedstream 3060 PCI internal modem (very cheap on ebay). All is working fine now

Hi Kolakol,
had same problem with Tiscali service. bloody callcentre in india. she had less of a clue than I did. She would randomly stop talking for a few seconds until I said "hello?" and took me 20 minutes of trying the most obvious stuff like uninstall, and reinstall, check password etc (I went a long with it so that she could eliminate all possible solutions) just for her to say I need to pay for a technician to come out. I could have screamed |
