I recently signed up to tesco broadband and initially had no problems, however when I start the computer up it seems hit or miss whether it detects the speedtouch 330 modem, it says usb device not recognised.
If you repeatedly unplug and plug in the modem, eventually it will recognise it and you are able to connect but i'd rather not go through this everytime I want to get online! has anybody got any suggestions on how to rectify this or has anybody had any similar problems? |

Try plugging the 330 into a different USB socket as the problem could be caused by a fault with the socket.
If that doesn't work, borrow a 330 from someone and try it in the same socket. If that one detects fine then it's a duff modem. Otherwise if that one has the same problems try reinstalling the driver. If this doesn't work obtain the latest drivers from the speedtouch site. And if that doesn't work it may be a windows/hardware issue. |

Thinking about this I think its a power problem with the laptop, the modem is powered by the computer however if the modem has no power the computer won't detect it (catch 22??) I'll fiddle with the power saving settings on the laptop tonight to see if it makes a difference.
